Meet old work mates, night away hawkesbury and high tea
On Tuesday 19th May worked til 13hrs was disappointed when got to work as hoping to be sent away but someone off sick. As determined to finish on time as meeting Laura old work mate from Harrogate hospital as in Sydney for a few days. Luckily I finished about on time but then got distracted talking to Hannah for abit so by time got in car was 1.15 and hit every traffic light. Supposed to meet Laura at Circular Quay at 3pm but only gave me 45 minutes to get ready so had to tell Laura would meet her at Manly instead. So I got bus to Manly and wrote letter to Nanna on way, got their about 3.20 and even had chance to post before meeting Laura. Laura arrived at 3.30 and was their to meet her when she got off ferry but somehow missed so met her McDonald's. Was nice to see her and she looked so well can't believe she has been in Australia since January and first time meeting put bern in Melbourne til now. It was then to show her Manly since her first time here just a shame the sun wasn't shinning for us. So walked round to Shelly beach which is only a short 15-20 minute walk around the coast from bustling Manly beach. I always find it a great place to stop to enjoy the beauty of Manly see 2nd picture also the beach is very pretty and peaceful. After that was time to wander back to the wharf where we went to Max Brenner for a nice hot chocolate and cake. It also gave us chance to have a good catch up and admire the lovely view from Manly wharf. We didn't end up leaving til after 6ish and we both got the ferry together as not done it for ages and enjoy going on the ferry. But unfortunately once back at Circular Quay was struck out in water for abit due to cruise liner coming out, but gave Laura chance to get pictures. We were so busy chatting that we didn't realise had docked so had to get off when people getting back on. Unfortunately when we got back was raining a little but we still had to get a picture of us together with Sydney bridge in background. As not sure when we will next see each other and so glad that we made it happen as Laura only in Sydney for a few days. On Wednesday in charge during the morning as Amie on study day and had a nice shift Laura invited me to go to cinema but decided against it. As I had a few things to do first like go to the gym where I ended up running 2.2 miles then make dinner and scones. Then on Thursday was my last day of 6 days high so glad and we had afternoon tea for Hannah as her last day today. I had made some scones which everyone seemed to enjoy and Hannah gave me a little present a necklace, which was sweet of her. Then on Friday 22nd May Tiago decided to take the day off so we could do something together had originally planned to go for high tea as had groupon offer. But unfortunately couldn't fit us so instead booked it for the following Saturday afternoon. So since we both had the day off I looked at secret deals on last minute and found one for $122 in hawkesbury only 45minute drive away. The secret deal was sebel hawkesbury resort & spa, perfect as it also has a spa and indoor swimming. When we woke on friday trust it to be raining typical but then stopped before lunch but even though Tiago had day off still had to work for abit. So didn't ended up leaving til nearly 3 then he got me to send a few emails and made a few phone calls on speaker. Got to hotel just before 3 and looked very nice as pulling up a nice water feature in pond. Once arrived checked straight to the room was nice but unfortunately no bath but nice big shower. It was for coffee but Tiago have to take a few phone calls for work so I read kindle in front of a nice British log fire. Back to room after 5ish get changed go to pool which looked nice but not that warm. So ended up just going in the jacuzzi which was nice and warm was going to go in sauna but not on. Back to room after 6 relax with wine for abit then get go for dinner in the harvester restaurant in hotel about 7.30ish. We ordered rib eye for two took 35mins cooking time so had garlic bread to start with but no wine just water as plenty wine in room. Unfortunately was a lot of fat on ribeye but staff didn't seem bothered about it and said that's normal. Also Tiago spilt the sauce and tried to get there attention to get more but appeared to ignore us as never came over. Don't think manager like it since we didn't order any drinks as after seating us never came near us. Back to room 9ish drink more drink whilst playing cards but didn't do too well Tiago won most games was 8-3 to Tiago. Woke up 8.30ish but rest for abit before eventually getting up after 9 get ready and check out 10. Then for breakfast went to lime and coconut cafe in Richmond where Hannah suggested and supposedly did nice coffee. Tiago have baked eggs and I had banana waffle as not had waffle for ages was all very nice and coffee good. Hannah recommended the lime and coconut cheesecake but unfortunately none so got the berry one instead as take away. Back on road 11ish luckily only 45minute journey so home before 12 and tried the cheesecake later which was good. Then back at work on the Sunday which was ok and had mandatory training on the Tuesday which was nice. As was me and Sherin from my ward and then 3 from 5 East Michelle, Edna and Reena so had a fun time. Only thing is finished by 1 so had to go back to ward to help and had asked Amie and said to go in non uniform. Which we did so meant we couldn't really do much on the ward but I did help to put the new admissions in the computer and didn't leave til 4ish. I was then on lates both Wednesday Thursday and in charge for them luckily it want too bad, but on Thursday woke up with sore shoulder. Then on Friday 29th May arranged to meet Jen at Ryde shopping centre for a catch up as can't actually remember the last time I saw her. Was nice sat outside in the sun for coffee then did some shopping and bought some new clothes for my new niece. Even had lunch together before we jen left both had a sushi roll and then I did food shopping leaving about 14hrs. Once home have another coffee then go to chic salon to have a pedicure since broke my big toe nail whilst in Hawkesbury. So thought I best get it sorted before it got worse and once finished looked a lot better and choose a nice grey colour. There then asked if I wanted anything else since had a cancellation so decided to have a back, neck and shoulder massage. As thought might be a good idea to have it since my shoulder was still a little sore not sure if from gym or work. The massage did help a little and then once home home make lasagne for dinner which is one of Tiago's favourite dishes. Then on Saturday having our high tea at QVB but since got to city early had chance to go to nepresso to get coffee first. Also for some reason had it in my head that we were having high tea in the tea room on level 3 so got there but then realised wrong place. So looked at the Groupon voucher and was actually on level 2 at Cicchetti restaurant from 14hrs. When we got there the tables were all set up for high tea as wanted a window street overlooking George street so instead had it overlooking the QVB clock. We choose the offer which included a bottle of sparkling wine rather than a glass as seemed a better offer. The voucher included scones with jam & cream, cakes, macaroons, selection of sandwiches with tea. Only disappointing thing was there was no different like we had in Melbourne only earl grey, English breakfast, peppermint, green tea and chamomile. We choose the earl grey tea as is not what we would usually have and got about 2 cups out of it. The selection of sandwiches had ham, chicken and egg but didn't realise had egg til eaten all others tried it but didn't like even though scrambled egg. Unfortunately was a few things there forgot to give us a start like the ice bottle for wine and the jam & cream for scones. But we eventually got them when we asked for them the scones were good but sweeter than the ones I make. I tried everything but Tiago didn't try the macaroons as their were very sweet I only had a bite. It was nice to do something different and indulge in some high tea in Sydney’s historic Queen Victoria Building. We got to enjoy the buzz and sophistication of Sydney’s beautiful QVB at its best while we sipped, noshed and relaxed.
