Sick day and color run

Saturday 24th August not impressed had email this morning from PayPal to say now have to pay courier fee, which I did. As met Debbie at Rhodes after she sent her suitcase via Qantas courier service, which I will have to use if go home. So Debbie lent me some more money so I could dothe transfer and to,d if done before 11am did by 10.30 would be with me by 12noon. By 1pm had not arrived so decided would go to city to collect our color run packs. Got train to town hall as soon as got off persons flat I viewed when first looking recognised me small world. Then to collect our color run packs near Hyde park luckily wasn't busy so didn't take long. Then Debbie want to get some more Haigh's chocolate as will be last time she can get some before going home. Time for late lunch at KFC and then yoghurtland just opened on George St had coconut, mango & mango/guava pie my favourite was coconut. Train got back to Rhodes 4ish to Target first as Debbie need a few things and then to Coles as I need milk and bananas. When back still no reply about card starting to think its a con, the icing on the card will be if Katie doesn't arrive tomorrow. So once home not really sure what to do so ended up staying in and watched TV. I made tea homemade potato wedges which ended up taking longer that I expected had 7ish. Also we eventually had the wine which we bought at the easter only taking us nearly 6 months to open and was still as nice as remembered. Watched fantastic four silver surfer was good but not sure what happened as fell asleep on sofa. Didn't sleep the best think after 2ish kept waking up nearly after every hour and got up 6ish. Had email from paypal to say card would be delivered 8am today but had to email as wont be in at that time as doing color run. Had breakfast then caught train to central and wait for bus which took forever to arrive and then ages to get to Centennial Park. Once there had about 10 minute walk to walk and took a while to find Nat and Lou but eventually found them. The color run is inspired by the Hindu festival Holi, where it is tradition to throw natural coloured powders as the seasons change from winter to spring. Then time for the fun to begin the happiest 5km in the planet and get colourful, we were about the 5th/6th wave to go through. It works by each runner wearing white and as their pass each kilometre with a blast of color of completely harmless paint. During the 5km race you go though 4 different color stations blue, yellow, orange and pink. First one for us to pass is the blue who got us quite well, then yellow, orange and pink Nat took pictures after each color. From looking at me you wouldn't even of thought I went through the yellow and orange station but made up for it in the pink one. Was lots of fun and would definitely do it again ran abit but mainly walked as had to get going and had to stop for each station. During the 5km we lost Nat a few times as she seem to disappear in the crowd but we always eventually found her. Once over finish line we got a bottle of water and a colit bag I choose purple since not had it in run. After we had got our color bags time to find a space to throw them but me and Nat both got purple whilst Lou and Debbie both got yellow. We should of aimed to all get different colors and at end follish said I had some left so Debbie tipped it over me. Then time to join the crowd for the color throw was red but we had already done ours and only got abit. Lou and Nat then had to go so time for them to say their goodbyes to Debbie as last time to see her. So Me and Debbie had look round the stalls but unfortunately not many freebies. We then walked back to central which took us about 45 minutes just missed train so had to wait 25 minutes for next one. Got home about 1ish to wait for ATM card which never turned so emailed paypal who think is fraud. I then phoned paypal and western union who were no help and obvisiously Katie never turned up. Meeting Tiago tonight who came round to mine 6ish showed him all the PayPal and Katie emails, luckily had all western union transfers done. Decided that we had to go to police station was going to go to Strathfield one but just missed train. So ended up getting taxi and recommended going to Burwood police station as not sure if Strathfield open, so that's what we did. As soon as mentioned western union the police officer was like that's dodgy to stay well clear, which I know now. Also the police officer not sure if will be able to go anything since transactions to USA but will look into it. Was quite funny as asked what mine and Tiagos relationship was said boyfriend, which didn't realise. But Tiago had a good idea to go to police in New York when there and so glad that I had someone with me when I went. Got train back from Burwood to Rhodes and literally just made it in time but thought Tiago might miss as ticket not working but made it. Once home I knew I had to speak mum and dad which had been dreading but there knew something was wrong as been ignoring them. Where very understanding and even offered to lend me some money so that I can still enjoy New York and very happy Tiago came with me to police station. After speaking to them needed wine and Tiago had emailed all emailed to himself to send to police as not doing when I tried. By this time it was late so Tiago ended up staying and was nice to cuddle after the day I had.

Debbie's last week and work

Can't believe it has now come to Debbie's last week in Australia and feel guilty as cant do anything as no money. Was hoping would sleep after crawling into bed at 2ish didn't happen woke up in night and got up 8.30ish. Not really sure what to do so just chilled and left early for gym to go put some money in bank the change from transfer fee. Got to gym early to do my foam roller exercises and met with BJ at 11ish to go through more strength exercises. Did the sumo squat with bar, push up on bar and then one leg lunges with one leg up and weights. Ended up doing 2 different routines which consisted of 3 exercises 3 times which was good was good work out. Hone shower, lunch then go to work with Debbie lift busy so took walked up stairs. Still only open to 24 patients and 12 on my side had 1 discharge, 1 blood product and working with Michelle. A side definitely better than B our busy times was 5ish as had a few IV antibiotics to do rest of shift ok. Finish just before 10pm wait few minutes for Debbie not tired when home so have hot chocolate and good film on 'Just like heaven' bed midnight. Couldn't get to sleep at first and then woke up before my alarm at 5.30. Chilled in bed for abit then thought I best get up and still managed to arrive at work 15 minutes early. Work nice still on A side which not as busy as yesterday ended up taking blood with the educator. Which went well but still need more practice so was a nice shift and even got finished abit early. Realised that I can pay the outstanding Paypal fee if I transfer money from UK and Debbie going to lend me some more. Was tempted to go for a run but it never happened instead just went to Coles to get some food. For tea had sausage, mash and beans one of mine and dads favourite dishes in UK, but couldn't eat it all. Cooked the rest of the sausages off to make sausage pasta bake so food for work sorted this week. Was supposed to meet Tiago tonight but decided against until money and hopefully meet Sunday instead. So stayed in caught up on TV Neighbours, Home & Away, Masterchef gutted Lucy out as one off my favourites and only Pom in competition. Woke up ok this morning and even had time for cup of tea before work and still managed to be there early. Not team leader today which was nice did blood taking and line change which went well blood taking alot better but don't like line change. Later on got to disconnect a power PICC from line which took longer than expected. As had to check 1st with haematology nurse and had to hep-lock since patient previously had blockage. Then got to watch educator do the dressing it was then lunch and still managed to finish 15 minutes early. Didnt wait for Debbie to finish instead straight to bank to withdraw money and pay final bill at post office and met her there. Card supposed to arrive by 6pm but supposedly delivery already gone for the day so should come tomorrow instead. So went to city with Debbie as she wanted to get a few things before going home first stop Ugg where she got chocolate bailey boots. Next to Ripcurl shop so Debbie could get her suitcase and still want the cabin one but not til money sorted. Quick look in David Jones and saw more nice tops at maison scotch but didn't buy anything. Next food didn't like the Westfield food court too busy so went to Myer one had beef & black bean and new cupcake shop so got us one. Walked to central to try find internet cafe as Debbie need to print things off found 2 shops with internet but computers not working. Whilst waiting for train we ate our cupcakes which were ok but we said we had better. Home just before 10 watch legally blonde 2 and trust me to fall asleep on the sofa so eventually got to bed at 12. Woke up at 4am then back to sleep til alarm at 5.45, left for work early as thought Debbie want cake for work. But she decided against it but I decided that I fancied a juice but no juice bars open so just got one from Coles. Still at work 15 minutes early Kate had made chocolate sweetie cake as Dr Alan's last day on our ward. Was not happy at first as had swapped me to B side when been on A all week but wasn't as bad as I had expected. At 9am went to journal club but nearly finished as actual started at 8am not 9am as we were told so only caught the conclusion but was still good, so only gone 15 minutes. Thought doing bloods today but was actually none for me to do which was a shame as want to get signed off now. Had a nice shift 2 discharges and was probably nice for a change as been on A side for ages. Finished exactly on time and home to wait for card which never arrived just hoped comes tomorrow. We got bored been at home so went to cinema to see 'Mortal Instrument - City Of Bones' which is a fantasy movie. About an ordinary girl who discovers that she is in fact a descendant from a long line of shadow hunters was good but didn't like ending. Once home I phoned in sick for work tomorrow so that we can actually get things sorted like collect color run packs etc.

Mine and Debbie's last day together

Monday 19th August woke up 7.30 finished my book and also found out Tiago is 27years which is better than I thought and a lawyer. He wants to meet up before I go to New York as when I get back he goes to brazil for 2 weeks so probably be a month til we see each other again. Then read some more of my kindle as I didn't want to get up but eventually did and had shower. Next to Debbie's bank as lending me money to make the payment then to post office to pay bill. Go to killa burger next as Debbie want breakfast got me a hash brown wasn't as good as normally abit greasy. Then home and wait for card supposed to be delivered 10.30 at 10.35 got email to say card approved be with me in 30 minutes. By 11am ATM card still not arrived so sent email 11.30 and got no reply til 2.30. When told me couldn't release card as card machine requesting full payment of, so want further payment. This is getting ridiculous and at this wait won't enjoy my holiday due to lack of money and ruined my last day with Debbie. As we had planned to go on our last shopping trip and do the sky tower but none of this happened as had to wait for ATM card which didn't turn up. Ended up writing a letter to Nanna and at 4ish fed up been inside so went for walk 1st stop post office to post Nanna's letter. Then walk to Olympic park to find the Skodu stadium as is a AFL game on Sunday which thinking of going to watch, which we found. Had a look round the Cathy Freeman park which has some extraordinary artworks like the Attractor symbolising the fundamental principles of olympism. Then to McDonalds for tea had nugget meal not best definitely won't be rushing back to this one. As milkshake supposed to be vanilla but had chocolate flavour in and the nuggets won't the hottest. On way back and Debbie phoned up regarding going back to work and not happy as told going back to A3 instead of A4. But on a good note was still respiratory which made her feel slightly better but not with her old colleagues. Home just in time for Home & away after stopping at Coles watch TV Masterchef fall asleep sofa bed 2ish woke up to Ballykissangel how old.

Rugby, breakfast and work

Didn't sleep the best woke but think as stressing about money woke up few times and got up 8am. Also Adam texted which made me smile and still not sorted money as still have to make a payment for them to release card, fingers crossed. Don't really want to pay but looks like i will have no choice luckily Debbie offered to lend me so can afford to pay it all. Rest of morning tried to sort through pictures on iPad and mac, so can rid of some on my iPad. Go to work only 6 staff and one doing one to one with patient only open to 24 patients, shift not too bad had 2 blood products. But I had awful shoulder pain 3 people gave me massage best one was Shar who not even on our ward was on 5 north. Think if I continue to have this shoulder pain I definitely need to book in for a back and shoulder massage. Also found out that the hokiday i requested for in january unlikely I will be able to have since got ine december. Walked hone even though Mandy offered me lift but didn't want to clay het as she's on early tomorrow. Wide awake when home watch TV, drink wine chat to Debbie found out Sherrie who met on plane in November coming next yr to work, fell asleep on bed 12ish. Woke up just before 7 and couldn't get back to sleep so ended up reading my kindle. Eventually got up just after 8 shower, breakfast and watch TV. Debbie got up 9am & was at bank when opened at 9.30am withdraw money to pay final bill for customs fee. Straight to post office after to do the transfer via western union and post mum and dad the brochure for Melbourne. Afterwards to killa burger for hash browns and then to Coles to get things for work as Jiewen's birthday got British things Irn bru and mcvities. Once home tried to sort through pictures again but is that many going to take a while. Had lunch before work as best use steak up begore goes off, so had a steak sandwich. At work was still on A side but not team leader which was nice for a change. Had birthday celebration for Jiewen think liked Irn Bru but didn't open biscuits as had 2 cakes to eat. Shift not too bad had 1 discharge, 2 admissions both previous patients, 2 blood products and finished just after 10pm. Speak to mum on way home stemmed to like the iternary I sent her for Melbourne  and hopefully speak on Skype on Sunday. Once in not tired but knew had to go to sleep as early in morning eventually go to sleep and woke up just before 6am. Really wanted to stay in bed but knew I oukdnt so eventually got up a d go to work with Debbie. Work nice but felt I did most of the work this morning as the person who working with only done 2 meds by time I had done 8. Saw Michelle who is fine to still get me high hair and cot for when Sharon here which is one less thing to worry about. Finish just after 3.30 but not sure why as not busy and Debbie sat waiting for me, which makes a change. Supposed to get ATM card today by 6pm but didn't arrive which is getting very frustrating now. Lou arrive 6.30ish had to do her fantasy football as due in 11am UK time then walk to Olympic park. To go watch the Wallabies vs the All Blacks at the ANZ stadium in an eagerly anticipated game. With the All Blacks going in as defending champions looking for their 100th test victory over the Wallabies. I decided since I was in Australia I should support the Wallbies but had a feeling that the All Blacks would win.It was very busy with over 65,00 people it was good to see the All Blacks perform their Haka live, but wouldn't like to be stood in front of them. As the All Blacks perform the Haka before their matches which has become a distinctive feature of the All Blacks. The All Blacks were 7-0 up after just 4 minutes and by half time after 40 minutes the All blacks took the lead 25-19. So wasn't sure what to expect from the second half but was just as enjoyable with the All Blacks winning 47-27. When came out felt like a disco as music playing with lights got hot dog then walked and Lou left straight away. Once home spoke to Mum and dad who seemed keen on Melbourne but not happy about money situation, but don't know what to do to sort it. Then watch film where I obvisiously fell asleep on the sofa and got to bed eventually at 1.30. Woke up at 8ish, Tiago texted and arranged to meet at 10 instead of 10.30 as we had planned. Also not happy as had further paypal email to say have to pay further amount for them to release card. Meet Tiago for breakfast at Lily's in Rhodes only had eggs on toast then go for walk as a nice day. Was nice to see Tiago and he was a true gentleman and wants to meet before I go to New York so maybe next Sunday. Got home 12ish and told Debbie about the PayPal email and she can't believe it, is getting ridiculous been ongoing for nearly 2 weeks. Then to go to work but stopped at food court on the way for Debbie to get something to eat. At work working with Michelle so had nice shift and at least I know that Michelle is a good worker. I didn't have to take dinner tonight as Michelle bought in Indian as one of her friends made for school fete and leftovers was nice, tried butter chicken for first time. Luckily I was on A side again which is nice nothing exceptional happened, B side supposedly like nursing home. Michelle offered me a lift home but wait for Debbie for few minutes then walk hone together. Debbie very kindly offered to lend me the money to pay the outstanding transfusion so grateful. Watch TV have wine then fall asleep on sofa then bed 1.30 then couldn't get back to sleep til 3.30.

Days off, cinema and sickie

Monday 12th August woke up 8ish breakfast and was there when bank opened to withdraw money for my gold ATM card. Then straight to post office to transfer the money via western union, home watch 'Mentalist' and wait for card to arrive. Then to be told have to do further transfer so Debbie who agreed to meet me at Rhodes and lend me further funds. Whilst waiting for Debbie go to flight centre to enquire flight for Mum and Dad to Cairns. Then meet Debbie to do further transaction and go to Coles afterwards for a few things, next to coffee club for a coffee and biscuit. Home chill for abit then make tea pasta in carbonara with garlic bread all bought fresh from Coles. Supposed to meet Tiago but not really in the mood for going out and still hoping my ATM card would arrive. But I got email saying that card would be with me in morning so still stayed in and caught up on TV bed 11ish. Woke up 7.30 and not happy had another email from Katie who had transferred more money, as thought I had card. So that mean't there wouldn't release card but I literally can not afford to do transfer as no funds to do that amount. Tried explaining this to them but their still wanted half payment, which I still can't do. Was beginning to have doubts if this transaction real or fake as getting bound a joke, tempted to go to police. Katie then tried to reverse her transaction so card could be released but wouldn't let her, so no idea what to do. I even phoned paypal to ask them if it was real or fake and assured me that it was probably real, which made me feel slightly better. Supposed to see BJ at 11am but cancelled as wanted to try sort out this mess which unfortuntely didnt happen. Debbie finished at 1 but was late finishing and once she was home chilled for abit then fed up as supposed to go shopping but no funds. So about 3ish go out first stop bank to see if could help and didn't help as said Western Union maybe dodgy. Then walked to olympic park and go to Cold Rock Ice Creamery had honeycomb with m&m's and cookie dough very nice. Walk back go to Rhodes shopping centre was going to go to light centre but already 5ish, so go to Coles. Then to food court got chips from killa burger with gravy were good. One good thing about today been texting Adam lots who I met on night out with Nat, which cheered me up. Go to cinema next to watch 'Now You See Me' at 6.30 a hugely enjoyable thriller about magicians as criminals. Now You See Me put the fun back into being fooled with some great performance with likeable characters. Once home decided that I deserved some wine so opened the Tempus Two wine, which was just as good as I remembered. Watched TV then trust me to fall asleep on the sofa so bed 12ish then couldn't get to sleep. On Wednesday woke up 7ish then back to sleep til 8ish breakfast then to gym. Meet BJ at gym at 9am first time seen him since city2surf and said I did well did strength exercise. My favourite press up on bar, not! but I did enjoy using the 5kg ball and throwing down also using the kettlebell. Home ended up phoning in sick as feel stressed without this money and don't want to make errors at work. Also want to get it sorted tried emailing but no help once home Debbie still in bed so chilled for abit and update blog some more. Once Debbie up catch up on Masterchef Encore then thought we best do something so about 1ish went for a walk. Ended up walking down Duck River for a change of scenery which was nice and stopped to take in the scenery. Then to a Rhodes to flight centre to price up Melbourne for Mum and Dad and good price with flight, accommodation and 3 trips. Off to Coles afterwards to get some fruit for work this week, Debbie then need something to eat so to food court but I didn't need anything. Didn't do much once home but I did tea steak with roast carrot & pumpkin, steak cooked well considering never really done before. We then had meringue with summer fruit and strawberries but the summer fruit were abit soft. Then to catch up on neighbours, home&away, Masterchef, finale of offspring good night for TV, Debbie go to work as on nights. I finished my wine opened yesterday and go to bed 11ish, mum seemed to like the quote I got het

City2surf and meal out

Sunday 11th August slept well til 3 then trust me to keep waking up and eventually got up at 5.30. When decided to do my stretches with my ball for arch of foot and use the foam roller. I wasn't that hungry but I knew I had to have breakfast so had porridge and bananas. It was then to go catch the train at 7.11 was only 4 of us to start with and then few more arrived for city2surf. Got to city at 7.40 walk up to Hyde park where city2surf starting and already busy. Wait for Lou near Starbucks on Elizabeth street and eventually found each other just after 8ish and saw Meg from work. Then head over to Hyde park where thought best do some more stretches before the race.  It was then time for toilet stop before race began which took forever had to queue 20 minutes. Was going to try and meet Toby before race as after toilet was time to head to start line as our race start 09.05 for yellow group. Luckily we ended up on the road so not at back of queue but was so many in front of took about 15 minutes to get to start line. But once at the start line couldn't really get going since so many people in front of us but such a good atmosphere people everywhere. After 2 miles my calf started hurting tried to continue but at 2 and half miles had to walk for abit. But Lou continued which was the last I saw off her then the rest I ran and walked the rest of the 14km race. When got to heartbreak hill which was a  steep incline hill the toughest part the race which I ran and walked. You kept thinking you were at top but just another bend was a nice view of Sydney harbour at top of hill. Was a perfect day for the race people out with hose pipes which was very refreshing just what needed. Also after going through one of pit stop my trainers feel sticky must off been spilt gatorade but hose pipe washed away. So good when saw 10km but even better when saw 11km as mainly downhill so ran all and did in 1hr 35 minutes. Which I was pleased with and achieved my aim but would of preferred to off run more. Also was such a good atmosphere throughout race people on street cheering you long and playing music. The city2surf celebrated its 43rd year and is the worlds largest run with over 85,000 participants. It was the perfect day in Sydney for Australia's favourite running event with thousands from across the country to take to the streets. The first female across the finish line did it in 48.23, which I could only every dream of doing it in. After race not much battery managed to eventually get hold of Nat who came to watch but took a while probably due to amount of people. But unfortunately I never got to meet her as I went wrong way so couldn't get across the road without going back. I did however get a free small gelatissimo ice-cream in mango from Novo was just what I needed. Eventually found way out but took about 30 minutes to get to top of hill and never met Lou who in cafe but by then phone had died. So decided to just get free bus back to Bondi Junction instead of finding everyone then train to town hall. By time got to town hall was long wait for mine so got train to Strathfield so at least sat outside got home 2.15. So it actually took longer to get home than to do the race as started queuing for bus about 11.30. Once home needed food so had toastie then lie on sofa and fell asleep for about an hour and a half. I then looked on the city2surf website to find out what time I did was 1.35.02 so completed within my aim which was 1.30-45. Also by the time I woke up was time to get ready to go out as eating out tonight as Ann who used to work with is in Sydney. Michelle collected me at 6.15 and when pulling into Top Ryde shopping centre car park space was next to May. When arrived at Kazbah Ann, Greg and Mona but waiting for 2 more Edna and Linley. Was nice to see Ann and by 6.40 others not arrived so we thought we might aswell order then Edna arrived at 7ish. I decided to have the lamb kebab was good then shared pudding with Michelle. So for pudding we had the Shukran basket which was filled with frozen Jaffa mousse, Belgian bark and orange syrup. Once melted was very nice good taste the orange, may didn't stay for pudding ended up leaving main as somewhere to be. Had a nice evening but is also entertaining with Ann had a good catch up and a few laughs just what needed. Mona couldn't get hold of husband so Michelle dropped her off at Rhodes station offered to get out Michelle wanted to drop me at mine. Got in about 9.30 watch 'Ripper Street' saw Debbie then feel self falling asleep on sofa. But for some reason I was foolish and didn't go to bed so feel asleep on sofa and got to bed 12ish.

More work and last week off training

Tuesday woke up 7 then back to sleep til 8 and Sharon texted to say mum and dad had been in an accident. Was abit worried but luckily it wasn't that serious had just shaken them up abit as branch fell on bonnet of car. Had breakfast then decided best give the place a clean so mopped the balcony and the bathroom. Then I went for my pkanned off 3 miles and managed to run 3.15 miles was ok but still got calf pain. Home and go to bank to withdraw money, trust there to be a queue then to post office to do transfer for Katie's insurance fee and luckily no queue. Then to gym to meet BJ at 10.30 but late cause of delay at bank and did lots of leg exercises. When home do washing, shower, chill before work and had a nice shift at work as floating. I always enjoy floating as your not assigned to one side just help out everywhere needed and only open to 24 patients. May gave me a lift home, once home not tired so watched 'Bad Teacher' on TV was quite funny. After film was still not tired so ended up reading chapter of kindle and asleep 12ish. Woke up 7 and back to sleep til 8 got up and found out need to transfer more money for Katie for tax clearance fee. Went for run first but decided to stay to flat only had to do 5 miles did 5.13 miles but got right thigh pain when back. Shower, washing go to Coles for yogurt and strawberries then to bank to withdraw money. Then to post office to do the western union transfer cashier didn't want to accept UK driving licence but eventually did but have to use passport in future. Home chill then go to work and slightly busier than yesterday but probably as not floating today. Had in service on targin which contains 2 drugs oxycodone and naloxone, was very interesting as found out some new things. Ward busy as 3 admissions and blood products May gave me lift which was good as raining lightly when left. Once in spoke to Debbie for abit then bed just after 11 couldn't get to sleep at first so read for abit asleep 11.30. Didn't want to get up but I knew I had to  as at working this morning and got there exactly 7am. Work not to bad got AIN on our side only had 11patients 2 discharges and 2 admissions was a nice morning. Then got busy in the afternoon was not best handover but at least done the blood transfusions. When finish phone Debbie to meet up at Rhodes with passport and western union stuff as PayPal mistakenly transferred funds. So go to bank first to withdraw the money then to post office to do transfer, I just hope this is the last one as getting annoying now. Home chill for abit then go for tea at the food court in Rhodes had Pad Thai which wasn't the best. Then to cinema to see 'Wolverine' is one superhero that keeps you entertained home by 8.30 watch TV then bed 10.30. Got up alot easier this morning someone off sick at work so on my side 2 nurses and 1 AIN, not too bad a morning. Had 3 discharges and 2 admissions took blood with the educator and she was very happy with my technique just need a few more practices. Before doing S8 round counted drugs realised morphine missed but luckily found in bed someone thrown by accident. Also was hoping to get my money today but not happy as since over a certain amount have to transfer more to get my ATM card. So need to transfer again but unfortunately I don't have enough funds but luckily Debbie going to lend but can't do til Monday. Met Debbie at bottom of escalator in Rhodes bought me present Monster munch as thought need cheering up. I then went for my planned run of 4 miles did 4.03 miles was too bad but still got me calf pain. Nothing on TV so Debbie watching mentalist watched 2 episodes then thought need to move for shower. Mum then phoned me to let me know that uncle in A&E yesterday but ok now and Nanna eventually gave mum my birthday money. Debbie very kindly bought us tea eagel boy pizza not the best, chicken, garlic bread and dessert bed 11ish. Got up alright this morning but still very tempted to phone in sick but didn't, work was ok but it was a Saturday. Had 2 discharges and one had to wait nearly 4 hours to be told she could go home. My patient who needed one to one wondered where I had been had missed me, everything done by 3pm but finish just before 3.30. Then straight to gym to see BJ to go through some stretches with me to loosen up muscles tomorrow. Thinks that I probably torn ligament before than why getting calf pain also put tiger balm on. Home then go to Coles for bananas for tomorrow was going to go to flight centre but already shut. Make tea pasta with salmon not best as salmon been in freeze too long but thought need carbohydrates. Speak home first mum and dad then Sharon, Ellie and Ben arrive, Ellie not really sure what to make of it. Can't believe only 4 weeks til I get to see them again which will fly by, can't wait. Then to have bath to ease my muscles and watch Charlie and chocolate factory but fall asleep 8ish whilst watching then bed 10pm.

Shopping, date and off work

Saturday 3rd August for done reason woke up just after 7 so was there before post office opened at 9am. As had a parcel to collect my foam roller as thought best get one to help with calf pain then go to Coles for a few things. Home then go to catch train with Debbie and trust it to be just pulling away as we arrived so had to wait 30 minutes. Got train to Strathfield and just made 2nd train to Parramatta and for some reason thought it was further away than it was. We decided to go to Parramatta shopping for a change as is home to a major shopping and retail centre in western Sydney. It is also home to Westfield Parramatta, the third largest shopping centre in Australia receiving over 28 million visitors every year. There was a few different shops and was just nice to look round somewhere different but didn't but anything only McDonalds to get my free glass. On way back get off at North Strathfield to go look round DFO as not been for a while and still refurbishing so shops moved. Looked in Peter Alexander as fancied new pjs tried sone on but was nothing that different where you couldn't buy anywhere else. Tried a nice jumper on at Tommy Hilfiger but preferred the grey which obviously didn't have in my size but hopefully more choice in New York. Went to Sheridan's as wanted a new bath mat which I couldn't find but I did find the matching pillowcases to my quilt. I also bought some converse trainers tempted with star ones but ended up getting blue as thought go with more. Was also sone Nine West sandals I liked but not in my size before walking back had apple & cinnamon muffin but could of dine with more cinnamon. On way back stop at Coles as Debbie need a few things but I bought new coconut vodka drink with pineapple. When back I cooked tea chicken satay but didn't do it from fresh was a sachet and was very nice definitely have again, then meringue with cream & strawberries. Speak to mum and dad who have now booked airport hotel for night before their fly to Australia. Their are worried that their might not see much of me so said that I will try to request sone annual leave whilst their here. Finished watching Cool a running and tried my new vodka drink but felt the pineapple overpowered the coconut vodka. I then watched 'Transforners' which I have never seen before and trust me to fall so still don't know what happened.
Sunday woke up 8ish and went for run 10ish managed 6.70 miles without stopping even with calf pain. Supposed to meet Lou but no reply but she was out yesterday so when Debbie went to work I left with her to go for Coles for more juice. Home chill and watched '3 men and little lady' which haven't seen for Yeats then make tea chicken pasta bake was good. Decided then to go meet Tiago the Brazilian lad who I met last Saturday when out with Nat. I ended up meeting him at Opera bar at 7.30 was nice night he was very pleasant and we talked for ages not sure where the time went. He also want to meet up again which I probably will and someone selling roses so he bought me one got in midnight. On Monday got up at 8.30 as thought meeting BJ at 9.30 but was actually 9am so will have to reschedule. But decided since I was there I might aswell work so I did the plan which BJ gave me plus some cardio was there over an hour. Home chilled and Katie my new flatmate had emailed wanting me to pay her shipping fee if she transferred money via western union, I had said 'no'. But for reason she had already done the transfer so I had no choice but to do the transaction at post office. So I left when Debbie went to work and straight to post office to do the transfer via western union. Then to city to look round the shops went to Nike and found some running trousers and tops I like but will keep looking. I then found a lace top at David Jones by Maison Scotch a Dutch company which I have never heard of before. When trying things need jeans to try with top so tried on some nice jeans by J brand but is an American so best to look in New York. When I went to pay realised gone over my allowed allowance for the day since I did the western union transfer. So I went to get cash out which couldn't get out so went back to shop and can reserve for 1week hopefully go back Thursday. On way back look in Mulberry found 2 bags I liked but maybe abit out of my price range cheapest was $1500. Back to Nike who luckily take Westfield card $50 so only had to pay $20 to get my new running trousers. Tried to find tutu for colour run as thought would be fun to wear one but had no luck finding one. Next to Haigh's chocolate shop as Debbie wanted some dark chocolate buttons and got free sample to try. Then to walk to Opera House stopping at Ugg onroute as had sale on but was none that I really liked. At Opera House to look for opera for me and Debbie and also see what on whilst Sharon here recommend South Paific or Romeo & Juliet. Then home get in 7ish have tea noodles and sushi and couldn't eat all the sushi will do for tomorrow. Phoned mum and dad to confirm when here on holiday so can try to book holiday for their last week their here. Watched mastechef was heston week and then new show 'Mr Selfridge' about department store was good. Debbie finished late didn't get in til 10.45 speak for abit then bed and couldn't get to sleep.

More work and training

Tuesday 30th July didn't sleep the best woke up during the night then 7ish and eventually got up just after 8. Off to gym at 10am to meet BJ to see ifbcan help with my arch foot pain as still sore but at least slightly better than yesterday. Be manage to help with as had me rolling a ball under the foot like a massage and did seem to ease the tension. Straight to target after to find a ball couldn't find at first then eventually found one for only $2 tried when home and seemed ok. Chilled for abit before work and thought best wear my trainers for work since my foot still slightly sore. I ended up getting moved to Emergency Department ED and abit unsure as never worked in ED before. Someone showed me round and supposed to have the acute beds but changed me to the easy side so felt more comfortable. Ended up having only 4 beds and 2 had low blood pressure was told main thing to remember is do obs every hour. Also when first come in get them in a hospital gown and do ECG the most difficult part is knowing which Drs are looking after your patients. Prescilla the nurse manager phoned me in ED and told me cant apply tor jobs as visa only for Concord hospital  which didnt believe. Didn't go for first break til 16.30 so ate my dinner ascwant sure if woukd get another one but I next one 19.30. Had patient come in about 21hrs fall from nursing home finished a few minutes early and Michelle gave me lift home even though on different wards. Once home I checked my visa and isn't only for Concord hospital is for all NSW health so can work anyway in NSW. Not tired when home so watched TV for abit and had some wine. Woke up 8ish go for run 10idh did 3.30 miles but still got calf pain even wearing old trainers but ran it all. Home go to Coles for a few things and on way to work stop at rental agent to sort out bond and rent for new flatmate but no-one there to speak to. At work only open to 18 patients and had 8 patients on my side was a nice shift but still got out after 10pm. Lam one of the new grads kindly gave me a lift as didn't want me walking home on my own in the dark. Not tired when so spoke to Debbie as not seen her for a few days then went to bed midnight. Woke up just before 8am went for run 9ish did 6.35 miles still got calf pain but it didn't seem as bad as usual. Once back go to Coles with Debbie as off away for a night and I got boost then go to rental agent. Luckily Teng there as wanted to sort out rent for new girl as wants to pay 3 months in advance so wanted to know if can do that said yes. At work still only open to 18 patients and sent 1 staff away but my side busy as I had 2 blood products and 2 chemo's on my side. Also I was working with Enrolled nurse so I was the only one that could do medications. So after tea got our staff back which was good as had 1 patient waiting to be moved since 15.30 and didn't go til 7ish. Once finished wide awake watch TV for abit but then I knew I had to go to bed so went 11ish. Then woke up 2ish and got up 6ish as at work and as soon as walk on ward had MET call not best start to shift. But still ended up taking one of our staff then at 8ish another MET call not one of our patients. But still had to go to see if needed any help but everything under control. Luckily our side not too bad but no bloods taken so Edna did whilst I did meds and obs, so finished on time. Home chill and Debbie got home as been away for night to Port Stephens with sone of the work colleagues. Had gone on trip with quad bikes which fell off so ended up in ED as needed stitches to her elbow also had a few cuts and bruises. So went to pharmacy with her as very sore so need pain relief and new dressing also walking like a geriatric. Ordered take-away pizaa was going to go to cinema but never actually happened fell asleep on sofa and bed just 12.

Look for flatmate and days off

Sunday 28th july got up 11ish and decided best advertise flat online as only 4 weeks til Debbie leaves. So advertised on 3 websites Gumtree, Flatmates, Easyroomrate and have already got interest which is good. I then watched Goal 2-living the dream which haven't seen in ages which is very predictable but good at same time and also update blog. Thought I best get moving so eventually went to look round the shops but was nothing I wanted to buy just ended up getting groceries. Come home and decided best give the place abit of a clean as someone coming to look round flat tonight. Then made tea and speak to mum and dad on Skype who had nice holiday was very hot had abit of colour. Person arrive at 7ish to look round place Atif with cousin moving from Perth seemed to like but not that sure think prefer girl. Also girl in USA keen to take place but think she wants to move in before 1st September. Couldn't get to sleep at night was wide awake took a while to actually fall asleep then woke up 7ish. Shower then go meet Kat at Strathfield at 9.30 but had to wait abit so sat in square reading my kindle. We both haven't eaten in Strathfield before so not sure where to go but found a nice little cafe where I had smoothie and banana bread. It was then to Strathfield plaza as Kat had to go to post office but was abit disappointed with the amount of shops. Got back to mine about 11ish and chilled for abit then thought best go for run even though I didn't have to according to my plan. Ended up going for a run 1.30ish managed to do 8.08 miles non stop even though got left calf pain and even hi-fiver a school kid. When back had left arch foot pain was very sore was hard to put weight on and when did got shooting pain up calf. Still managed to go to Rhodes to post mum and dad some more brochures, cokes and get Cornish pastry for tea from food court. Was supposed to meet Dwayne tonight for catch but ended up cancelling due to sore foot as didn't think good idea to walk to far. So stayed in watch Neighbours, Home & Away and Masterchef put ankle support on which appeared to help a little. Also looks like might off found girl to move in an American girl 27 years old and a chef currently working on a ship. Bed just before 10 as could feel my eyes starting to go so thought would go before fall asleep on sofa again.

Gym, running and night out at rocks

Saturday 27th July woke up 7ish and met with personal trainer BJ at 8.30 did more calf stretches since getting more calve pain again. Come back aim to go for run as I knew since out tonight tomorrow it won't happen but ended up watching rest of 'Hart of Dixie'. I did eventually go for run 12ish but stopped after 1 and half miles as couldn't stop sneezing. But ended up doing 4.73 miles which was hard work as still getting a lot of left leg calve pain but at least I did it. Rest of day, chilled watched 'Forever Young' sure an old film but a classic and also had nap on sofa. I then thought I best get moving since going out tonight and realised that I had got my tax back which was over $1000. Meet Nat just before 8.30pm at circular quay as off out in Rocks tonight for a change of scenery. First stop was the 'Argyle' which is the hip New York/ London underground warehouse complex comprising of five bar concepts. So it ranges from a cobble stone outdoor courtyard bar to a cosy internal bar area over two levels. We ended up having cocktails I had strawberys bubbles which was stolichnaya vodka, sparkling, strawberries, mint, sugar and cranberry was tasty. Decided to go outside on the cobbles and a Brazilian guy came to chat who swapped numbers with and Nat wasn't sure about him. Only had one drink there then to Lowenbrau an authentic Bavarian restaurant and the food smelt good but we weren't eating just drinking. We ended up sitting with 2 lads Trent and Tristan who said there were brothers but I wasn't convinced. Ended up having a few drinks together see picture and there were quite entertaining but Tristan got chucked out then sneaked back in. He was then been silly and wouldn't leave but eventually did as there threatened to call the police. We then tried to get in a few other places Orient, Bar 100, Observer and Fortune of War but wouldn't as said the boys were too drunk. Eventually we got into Jackson on George had a drink and a boogie but then Trent left so felt like a 3rd wheel. As Nat and Tristan were getting close so decided to leave just after 12.30 in the hope of catching the last train. Got stopped by enough Brazilian and by time got Wynyard train station no train to Rhodes station. So ended up getting train to Strathfield  and then got a taxi from there was only $20 and got in 1.30ish had toast then bed.

More work and running

Monday 22nd July woke up 7.30 but then back to sleep and got up just after 8. Go to gym at 9.30 to meet with my personal trainer BJ who had me doing walking lunges with and without weight plus other exercises. Then to Coles to get some fruit for work later on and got hone realised star missing from my  necklace. So had shower and then go back to gym to see if star there but no-one handed it in but luckily was still in changing room on the side. Home chill and leave to work early to go to library to try send my eRecruit form to change to NSW health which eventually sent via scanner. Work not to bad only open to 24 patients but only actually had 22 seemed to go fast and Michelle gave me lift home. Once home not tired so watched TV, drink wine and the princess Kate of UK in labour so exciting as seem to off waiting ages for her to have baby. When I woke she had a baby boy was hoping for a girl got up 8.30 as there were doing a planned fire check. Went for run 10ish only did 3.35 miles and my pace wasn't the best was over 10 and used to been under 10. Home prepare lunch for 2 days since on early tomorrow and then realised have to resend eRecruit form again as missed some info. So went early again to work to rescan my form again and didn't take as long as I expected so early to work. Work was nice again and full to 24 patients one of my patients supposed to go home but had high temperature so ended up having to stay. Meg kindly gave me a lift home but once home wide awake so watch TV and have wine even though I know should go to bed as early tomorrow. Woke up early for work and had nice shift got everything done in plenty of time definitely on better side. Supposed to meet Kat after work but postponed til next week as felt didn't have enough time to get there. So instead I went for a run did 3.71 miles but got a lot of left calve pain but still managed to run it all and only supposed to do 3 miles. Rest of night chill in front of TV was going to suggest going to cinema with Debbie but she got up late. For tea had fish, chips and mushy peas with proper bachelors mushy peas which was good but as good as proper british ones. Went to bed just before 10pm but then this morning I just didn't want to get up for work but obvisiously did. Work busy to start with and one staff got moved then realised 10ish that our side half 12 patients and other side 9 patients with 1 special. So had every do the numbers this morning couldn't count very well but we got there in end and still finished on time. When got home supposed to go for my planned 9.5 mile run but couldn't be bothered. But obvisiously I knew I had to go for so did 5.03 miles but had to stop after 2.5 miles to go to the toilet. Debbie did tea tonight turkey rissoles very nice plus pudding viennietta but needed rest first and tasted different to English one. Friday morning thought headed alarm going off but thought it couldn't be that time but unfortunately it was. Work started off ok but got abit busy about 11ish but soon settled. Ended up doing blood taking and dressing change with educator which was a lot better than last time and first time doing dressing change. Had debriefing again about a certain patient as difficult family as some nurses deeply affected but still finish on time. When finish watched 'Beautiful Creatures' a supernatural love story was good but didn't like ending. Then met Jen later for hot chocolate at Oliver Brown and for catch up as not seen her for a while. I then went to Coles to get food and phoned mum as cricket tickets arrived but speaking sunday on Skype and only got back Wednesday. Once home drink wine, watch TV and fall asleep on sofa and eventually got to bed at 1ish.

Lazy day

Day after a good night out Sunday 21st July and slept well considering first time slept in Nat's bed woke up just before 9am. Once up got time to catch up with Lou aswell who haven't seen for ages lady time was before I went home. We then watched the Manchester United game who played A-league all stars last night which Lou went to and their won 5-1. Was a good game was a shame I never actually got to go watch live as manchester united were simply spectacular and Lou enjoyed. Didn't get moving til 1ish and if I had known could of gone for a run with Lou who off to do heartbreak hill which is part of the city2surf. As heartbreak hill is the most difficult part of the course at the halfway point which is a 2km long steep ascent. Which is the one bit I am not really looking forward to off the run especially with my calves playing up so would of been nice to attempt before race. Once I left Nat's I literally just missed the bus so I walked to the beach to catch the next bus and once on bus felt knackered. Was going to catch up with Adam from last night as was keen to meet but unfortunately just missed each other this time as had already arranged to meet friends. As soon as I got to the city was feeling hungry so straight to pie face and got a sausage roll for a change but definitely not as good as the pies. Aim was to originally go to the aroma festival as Dwayne wanting to meet but decided wasn't the best idea. So had a quick look round shops as I just missed the train so thought might aswell pass my time. Ended up getting to Rhodes at 3.30 and straight to shopping centre as wanted Union Jack pillow and box but couldn't find. Supposed to go for my planned run but just couldn't get myself motivated to go so just chilled on sofa instead. Debbie got up 5ish after her night shift and I made tea pasta with salmon in cream sauce wasn't my best but ok. Then fell asleep on sofa and gutted as missed the final episode of elementary.

Cinema and night out

Saturday 20th July woke up 8ish and go to gym at 10.30 to meet with my personal trainer BJ, this time we did circuits off 8 exercises to help with my calve pain. The exercises were ok but the worst bit was handing over the rest of the money as $450 for 10 sessions only doing the 10 sessions first to see if helps. When we got home Lynne was still packing even there thought would be done  and then go to cinema to see 'The Heat' at 1.30. The Heat is about two mismatched FBI agents who tackle a drug lord in this comedy with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. I had been told that this was very funny which is didn't disappoint it was predictable but had me laughing from beginning to end. Then me and Debbie went to tax office to sort out getting tax back which took about an hours but expected to get over $1000. Debbie will hopefully get over $7000 as since been here less than a year gets more but unfortunately I have been here more than year but still $1000 better than nothing. Once home finish packing as staying at Nat's tonight and Lynne gave me and Debbie presents chocolate from Haigh's mine Bilby's in a tin. Then we all caught train together to central as Lynne flying back to Ireland today and Debbie going with her. I then caught the bus to Coogee at about 6ish and was first time going to Nat's but she gave me address so put in google map and found well. So got to Nat's about 6.30 and she made me tea chicken nuggets and chips as not really eaten that much today but thought need some before going out. Nat also gave me my belated birthday present from her and Lou a lovely star necklace from magnolia. We then had a catch up as been over 6 weeks since seen Nat and she showed me her purchases whilst in UK spent over £900 whilst at home. Then thought best get ready to go out decided to wear my new Ted baker navy dress with my shoes of prey shoes. Obviously had to have a few glasses of wine whilst getting ready with the wine I bought and first time wearing my shoes of prey shoes. Taxi picked us up at 8.45pm and picked up Helen on-route who had been waiting for a taxi for over an hour. First stop was 'Unicorn' (formerly fringe bar) in Paddington which is more down to earth than most bars in Paddington which wasn't that busy but it was early. Think we only had 2 drinks at a unicorn then went round the corner to the Irish bar got talking to some Irish lads who showed so some tricks. It was then to get taxi to Beresford at Surreyhills but worried as no driving licence for ID but let me use my Merlin Pass which had my date of birth on. Once in had to queue to get upstairs which is a music venue inspired by New Yorks finest live music venues. Upstairs Beresford brings the finest and best acts every Friday and Saturday, was a live band playing who weren't bad. We got talking to some lads who ended up buying me and Helen drinks, Nat felt abit left but she wasn't with us at this point. Helen's two friends then arrived and then time to go dance on the stage where we met 3 more lads who were entertaining. Ended up leaving Beresford 1ish Helen and her friends went home but me and Nat still wanted to party. So we ended up going to 3 wise monkeys with Adam and Cameron the other lad ended up leaving as felt like 3rd wheel. Was good night even though 3 wise monkeys not really my favourite place but we danced more more and had a giggle. Nat ended up with Cameron and me with Adam who was 31years old from Brisbane and we swapped numbers. By the time we left at 3.30 the lads tried to persuade us to stay out but we went straight back to Nat's once in had toast and water then bed.

More nights

Monday 15th July woke up 6ish and couldn't get back to sleep so read book for abit and eventually got up 7ish. At 9.30 my aim was to go to the gym and by 12 was still in my PJ's so decided I best get dressed. Then went to Coles and flight centre to enquire about train journey for Mum and Dad whilst here which don't recommend as said not much to see, not like England. I also fancied a carrot and orange drink but couldn't find at Coles so ended up having one made at Boost which was good. Then home for lunch where I had a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese as really wanted when in Coles was worth the wait. I didn't end up going to the Gym instead I watched 'Hart of Dixie' and just chilled before my night shift, didn't even update blog. So I looked for a job and phoned up regarding a job at RPA but can't apply as need work email or change to NSW online so can't apply at moment. At work thought I was going to have to move to 3 North but ended up not having to move wards as ward  very busy. So supposed to cover meal breaks instead so I only took 4 patients and helped others but in end didn't covet meal breaks. We were busy as had chemo and blood products but did calm down and I finished just before 7.30 but not sleepy once home fell asleep just after 9. Ended up waking up at 12 but went back to sleep til 2.30 then went to the gym at 4 to see my personal trainer BJ. When we met went through more exercises to help with calve and shoulder pain but was more expensive than first thought, raining when left. Home have nice relaxing bath then finish watching 'Hart of Dixie' from earlier chilled watching TV then off to work. At work for some reason I only had 4 patients with 4 staff but was 22 patients so I got off lightly but was a few blood products at start of shift. I then had to cover meal breaks on Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) which never worked before and their only had 14 patients with 2 staff. Rest of shift not to bad but I was actually last to leave this morning at 7.30 as last to hand over my patients to morning staff. Once home I couldn't get to sleep at first then got up at 1.30 and watched episode of 'Hart of Dixie'. I then thought I best go for my planned run off 3 miles and managed to do 3.52 miles with pace under 10 so happy. Ending up eating at food court, I got a bento box which is Japanese cuisine which holds rice, fish or meat with pickled or cooked vegetables in a box shaped container. I could then feel my self falling asleep on sofa but unfortunately I couldn't get comfy as had to go do my night shift. Work busy I had 6 patients and trust one to fall who was none English speaking luckily AIN next spoke his language. Then trust me to drop hydromorphone ampoule on floor which obvisiously broke so had to inform bed manager and finished at 7.30. Woke up 1.15 then me and Debbie went to enquire about getting tax back went to 2 places but will sort out later. Then go for my planned run off 9.5 miles which felt very sluggish but was after my night and rubbish pace only did 8.11 miles but stopped after 7 miles as need toilet. Home cook tea then after making it couldn't eat it just kept picking at it and could feel self nodding on sofa but had to get up for last night. Once at work one person off so gave us an AIN in replace but luckily there was still 3 nurses so had 8 patients each. At start of shift one of my patients shouting out but resolved with so e analgesia and least no blood products tonight. I then had to cover meal breaks but only giving them 20 minutes each as covering 4 wards but 2 didn't want it, so the other 2 ended up with 30 minutes each. Rest of shift not too bad but did blood taking with educator in morning which didn't go to well. As I think I got flustered as got air in tube then ended up touching trolley so had to change gloves got off 7.30. Woke up about 12 had breakfast, did washing, hoovered as felt needed it then found out where Debbie and Lynne where. There were in city so got train 2ish and finished my kindle book on the way and met them at Harbourside. We went straight for food as Lynne wanted kangaroo again this time to waterfront grill for a change I wasn't too hungry so had chicken burger. Lynne enjoyed her kangaroo but thinks the one at plate was nicer but the waterfront accompaniment with steak were better as got mash with this one. By the time I met them Lynne had done lots of shopping so showed so whilst eating but I suppose she does go home tomorrow. After food I went to get some more brochure for mum and dad as their still haven't decided where there want to go. Then to Myer to try and spend my voucher which got though Emirates but couldn't find anything to get. Next to Max Brenner as thought Lynne should try chocolate pizza whilst here and think she liked but only had one slice. Unfortunately didn't do sky to wet as weather not the best but at least it had stopped raining. Once home just chilled and went through my application for neonatal nurse, both Lynne and Debbie tried to help me but Lynne more as a neonatal nurse in Ireland.

Adelaide and kangaroo island

Friday 12th July after finishing work straight home shower and taxi picked us up at 4.15 as thought be easier to get taxi than train. But unfortunately was abit of traffic on the way there so ended up taking  us 45 minutes and cost us $25 each. But luckily only have to be there 1 hour and trust me to get stopped by security to do an explosive check. Time then for food just had McDonalds and plane supposed to leave at 6.10 but was late leaving ended up departing at 6.45. None of us were sat next to each I was sat 9A nice plane was plenty of room and even had TVs which was live watched NCIS and CSI but fell asleep. When woke up heard on the antenna them asking for nurse, Dr luckily someone else went but not sure what the problem was. Landed at 8.40 which was 45 minutes late but flight only 1hour and 55 minutes then get taxi to our accommodation. Staying at 'Breakfree Directors Studios' which is only 10 minutes from airport and in the heart of the CBD. Considering we arrived late the staff were very welcoming and was expecting to have a camp bed but luckily we had 3 separate beds. Once checking in went for a wander and was close to the market precinct and Chinatown was lots of places to eat. But most were Chinese but we won't really that hungry crepe looked tempting but very busy so just got ice-cream. On way back was raining so as soon as got back jumped in the shower and blew the electricity when using the hairdryer. Luckily it was easily fixed the receptionist bought up a new hairdryer and fixed the electricity. The bed was very comfy fell asleep just after 11ish but woke up during night and then I eventually got up at 5ish. Had time for cup of tea it seemed very cold so decided to wear my new north face jacket which got for birthday and my barbour jacket. We were first to get picked up just before 6am and on our 2nd pick up the 2 people were late for collection  by 10 minutes. By the time we had picked everyone up was 6.30 then took 2 hours to the ferry and the ride was very bumpy so couldn't get to sleep. Arrive at Cape Jervis Jetty which is the jumping point for passengers to Kangaroo island only had to wait a few minutes board 9ish. The journey only took 45 minutes then arrive at penneshaw the township on the northeast coast of dudley peninsula on kangaroo island. It was then to find our coach to start our kangaroo island day tour where found out kangaroo island only has 3 policeman. Has 35km of beaches and 29 vineyards but unfortunately no time to visit the wineries and beaches today but not warm enough to go on beach. Also there is no traffic lights on kangaroo island with only 2 stop signs, I roundabout and people actually wave to each other when pass each other in cars.
First was to Seal Bay Conservation Park which is the home of the endangered Australian Sea-Lion and the second largest breeding colony in Australia. It is home to 1 thousand seals with 50/50 of male and female seals, where we got to join one of the regular guided tours with our guide Paul. We got to experience these animals in their natural environment with wander along the 800 metre boardwalk through the limestone cliffs and dunes to the viewing platform. Here we got the opportunity to observe the sea-lions surfing the waves or sunning themselves on the beach while we enjoyed the stunning coastal scenery. It was amazing to see the sea-lions in their natural habitat and swimming in the surf then to look round shop where got a postcard. Then to Vivonne Bay Bistro for our freshly prepared 2 course Australian style lunch set amongst stunning natural bushlands. Here we got a delicious lunch of soup followed by chicken, vegetables and potatoes was the 2nd best meal had on tours best was the Ayers Rock BBQ. Next to Hanson Bay Koala Walk for an opportunity to look for koala's nestled up in the eucalypts where we got to see a few hiding in the trees. The koala is not related to the bear like people assume their closest relative is the wombat and average life expectancy is 15 years. Their like to sleep 19-20 hours sleep as eucalypts leave do not provide them with enough energy. To tell the difference between male and female the male has a large nose weighs 10-12kg and the female has fluffy ears weighs 8kg. We also got the opportunity to see a few kangaroo's hiding behind the trees but unfortunately couldn't get closer enough for pictures. Off to Flinders Chase National Park one of Australia's largest and earliest conservation parks and stopped at bunker hill lookout for view of the park. Then to remarkable rocks which is a cluster of granite boulders sculptured by the weather and perched on a granite dome rising steeply from the ocean. We had chance to take a walk around these huge rocks that have been carved into many different weird and wonderful shapes. From a distance it looks like a camel laid down and at first felt strange climbing the rock as last one Ayers Rock couldn't climb. It was very interesting as every angle you looked at the rocks showed something different and got some good pictures wasn't Lynne's thing. Next to Cape du Couedic Lighthouse which was built in 1906 then a steep but short walk from the lighthouse to a spectacular arch. Which is known as Admirals Arch formed by erosion from the pounding sea which is quite spectacular. It is also the breeding ground of a colony of New Zealand fur seals and got to see them frolicking in the water and the rocks under the arch. Nice to see the New Zealand fur seals in their natural habitat as last time I saw one one was at Taronga Zoo. Had a quick look round Flinders Chase visitors cente which is a good place to learn about local souvenirs and browse the souvenirs but bought nothing. Time to then head back to the ferry which took about 2 hours and gave me chance to have a sleep on the coach. Onroute to the ferry we stopped for food where I got a hot dog and chips then onto ferry which was more rough but not too bad. Slept on way back from Cape Jervis Jetty to city as had bigger coach and luckily was first drop off at 10ish. Once in electricity gone off again then watched TV for abit Lethal Weapon and did my usual fall asleep with the TV on.
Last day in Adelaide and woke up during in night then got up 8 and time to go explore Adelaide before heading back, luckily coukd leave luggage at hotel. But first for breakfast and since the pancakes looked good on Friday night decided would have some but was a disappointment. Thought would go look in the shops so headed to Rundall Mall which is the premier shopping destination and meeting place in Adelaide. But unfortunately the shops didn't  open til 11 so had a walk along the riverbank promenade along Elder Park. The park is named after the Elder family who were early settlers and developed the company Elder Smith. It also were the Popeye cruise departs from the Elder Park cafe up to the Torrens Weir and going up to the Adelaide Zoo. Their was also a few paddleboats on the River Torrens was tempted to go on but resisted as afraid of falling in. Walk past the Adelaide festival centre which was Austrlia first multi purpose arts centre built 3 months before Sydney Opera House. It had a few decorate items and one thing looked like stars but once up close was actually a number of triangles. Back to Rundall Mall to the iconic Rundall Mall pigs but have been taken away for some careful restoration. As the pigs are a tourist attration in Adelaide their are life sized bronzed pigs known as Horatio, Truffles, Augusta and Oliver. We then had a look round Haigh's chocolate store and Adelaide was the first place to open Haigh's on 1st May 1915. Lynne got us a Bilby chocolate from Haigh's but I couldn't eat since my nickname by so e of the people at work. Then time to have sone lunch before catching our flight so went to Hogbreath Cafe which I have heard good reports but never eaten.  Hogbreath cafe is an Aussie success story with lots of grunt and is a chain of steak house restaurants. Me and Debbie decided to share a selection of dishes which was very nice would definitely eat their again. One thing I did find better about Adelaide than Sydney was a lot better signposts and the traffic lights were better actually gives you count down to cross road. We then caught Taxi at 1.30 to airport which only took a few minutes and we actually got seats together this time. Flight at 15.15 and was sat at 27D but unfortuantely no TVs this time and we got food which wasn't expecting but didn't eat. Landed at 17.40 and caught train just after 6ish got back to Rhodes at 6.45 and straight to Coles to get ingredients for pancakes. As since me and Debbie so disappointed with ours today Lynne offered to make some which were very nice and she made lots. Watched Elementary but fell asleep so missed the ending which was a shame and got to bed 11ish.

More work and running

Tuesday 9th july woke up about 8ish breakfast chilled for abit before going to the gym to meet BJ at 10 am to go through some exercises. He had me using the foam roller which is to help improve flexibility, balance, strength and muscular awareness. I could certainly feel it on my calves and glutes when using the foam roller, he also had me on the treadmill but not turned. Was there about hour and half and signed up for 5 weeks to have 2 lessons a week which will hopefully help with my calve pain. It was then to flight centre to sort out our Adelaide trip this weekend and was maybe a little bit more expensive than I hoped. But at least we get to do Kangaroo Island which is the main reason why I wanted to go to Adelaide as me and Debbie if I did Ayers Rock then she would do Kanagroo Island. Got back just before 12.30 shower and then go to work only open to 24 patients so me and another staff 'Jiewen' got moved to 5 North. Me and Jiewen were on the same side with another nurse to look after12 patients and had a nice shift. May then gave me a lift home and once home was not tired so watched TV for abit then trust me to fall asleep on the sofa and eventually got to bed at 12.30. Then woke up 3ish and got up at 7ish had breakfast updated blog for abit. I then thought I best go for my planned 3 mile run at 9ish and managed to do 3.52 miles non-stop. Back shower and then go to Ikea to get picture frame for picture Bianca got me for my birthday, which looked nice in frame. Then to Coles to get a few things and then to flight centre to pick up tickets for Adelaide. By time got home was 11ish so update blog some more and catch up on Masterchef Encore since missed yesterday. Then time to go to work only had 5 staff for 18 patients so we had 9 patients on our side with 2 discharges. Am sure I was on the busiest side as had person having blood products, one needing 2hourly checks and one on 4 hourly observations. Only finished 10 minutes late and May gave me lift home once home speak to Lynne as Debbie already in bed. Was so cold so made hot water bottle then fell asleep on sofa and made it to bed 12ish. Woke up during the night but luckily went back to sleep til 9ish and get up have breakfast. Go for my planned 9.5 mile run at 10ish and did 7.14 miles got stitch and calve but at least managed to run it all. After run come back chilled for abit then left for work early to get some food got raspberry bread was good, but we were still managed to be at work early. Work very busy as soon as start go into patient to change, inservice break then realise AM shift not done 2 o'clock medications luckily was only a few. So felt like constantly trying to catch and I then had to do the S4/8 round which seemed to take forever, so felt guilty for leaving Meg for so long. Had 2 admissions luckily we had a student who did most of the observations and later on had a few bed changes. Me and meg handed over together as didn't feel like I knew the patients that well finish at 10.10 and Debbie already finished waiting for me. Walked home and straight to bed and couldn't get to sleep at first and woke up in plenty of time for work. Work very busy had debriefing regarding one of our patients was that busy didn't even have chance to ask if could work though lunch. So went for my lunch at 2.30 but at least still managed to finish on time.

Hunter valley and Korean BBQ

Monday 8th July didn't sleep the best probably because I knew I had to be up early in morning so woke up 3 and then got up at 5.15. Also found out that Andy Murray had won the Wimbledon final so became the first British man to win Wimbledon in 77 years, yippee. Left just after 6am to get train to central and even had time for Krusty Kreme donut before we had to catch our bus. Then time to wait for bus at the bus shelter near central station supposed to depart at 7.10 but arrived at 7.15 and was a few other people waiting. Once bus arrived two girls just pushed on first eventhough there was a queue of people, how rude. After pick up at central we headed to Hornsby station to pick up 3 more people then onroute to Hunter Valley. We stopped at a service station whilst driving up just for 20 minutes where I had chance to get a coffee. First winery was 'Lucy's Run' which is 10 acres of vineyard made up of 3 varieties of grapes verdelho, merlot and shiraz. When driving up was lots of kangaroos jumping around which was nice to see and Lucy's Run is a small vineyard which only makes 800 a year only in Australia. It was then to try the wine and got to try 6 wines 1 bubbly, 1 white, 2 red and 2 rose my favourite was Lucy in the sky bubbly rose and Bejo's blush. Out of the reds we tried a merlot and shiraz and I preferred the shiraz which was awarded a GOLD MEDAL in 2012 Hunter Valley Wine Show. We also got to try the extra virgin oil and delicious home marinated olives which were good as has 750 olive trees. The vineyard is very pretty with a 80 acre mixed farm as also has a few cattal roaming the remaining acres accompained by 3 pet donkeys. It was then to 'Robyn Drayton' which was established in 1853 by William Joseph Drayton and fast forward 156 years to now the 5th generation of winemakers. A trip to the 41 acre estate will showcase Robyn's award wining range of spectacular crisp whites, full bodied reds  and her famous white port. Where we tried 2 whites, 1 red, 1 dessert wine and white port, my favourite wine was the 2013 Liam reserve verdelho which originates from portugal. It offers great views, ok wine and tasty white port which is best served chilled with a wedge of fresh lime.  We also had a look round the interesting family museum stepping back to 1853 and loved all the different maps of the area. Next was time to look round the Hunter Valley Smelly Cheese shop which has an impressive selection of delicatessen products from Australia and overseas. As soon as you walk in you see it, smell it and then get to taste it which was lovely especially the Viking Danish Blue a nice soft creamy cheese. Also got to try breads dipped in a variety flavours of extra virgin olive oils the lemon was very subtle but effective. Then to 'Tempus Two' to try more wine which is set in a great location, beautiful tasting area and fabulous wines. Tempus Two's roots are firmly planted in one of Australia's oldest wine regions, the Hunter Valley, and one of Australia best known families, the McGuigan family. Here we got to try a selection of our choice of 6 different wines mainly white and rose I liked the rose sparkling wine and found the dessert wine very sweet like syrup. I ended up buying the Tempus Two Moscato Rosa 2013 which is made using a blend of red and white Frintignac grapes and a small portion of Shiraz adding greater depth of colour. The reult is an irresistably sweet fruity wine with refreshing citrus acidity and finished with a soft fine fizz. It was then time for food and went to 'Harrigan's Irish pub' where I wasn't to hungry so just had the soup of the day pumpkin. I also didn't want to eat to much as eating out tonight with work and we got to sit outside as a lovely day. Onroute to Harrigan's we passed the Hunter Valley Gardens but unfortunately didn't have time to look round but is supposedly very beautiful, will have to go back at some time. Then off to our last winery of the day and fourth one for the day 'Kevin Sobels Winery' which is 23 acres of vineyard and onto 6th generation winemaker. Here we got to try lots of wines was 11, but none that really stood out and made me want to buy, we also had white port but preferred the one by Robyn Drayton. There also had a St Bernard dog 'Archie' who was 3 and half ages old very big and very cute. Then time to head back to the city and fell asleep on the journey back stopping at McDonalds for toilet break. Got back to city just after 6pm after stopping at Hornsby station and a few places on George Street for people to get out. Unfortunately I just missed the 1st train to Campsie so caught train at 6.20pm so was about 15 minutes late for meal. So everyone else from work was already there by the time I arrived was 12 off us for Korean BBQ for my belated birthday meal. Was so much food seriously the best buffet place I have gone to in awhile, the food was delicious and fresh. The BBQ plate was changed every 15 minutes or so which was quite impressive as it was done in a smooth un-awkward way. There is a wide selection of meat and seafood as well as sushi and a dessert bay, the décor is modern and sparkling clean. All the meat was delicious but my favourites was the marinated chicken and the beef was so much that I couldn't even fit in dessert of ice-cream. Michelle had bought her husband and son who was very amusing and everyone was very kind as their paid for me as a belated birthday meal. Didnt want me getting train home so Katrina gave us a lift home with Reena and Muna dropped Muna off first at Strathfield then both me and Reena, got in just after 9.
