Work and Michael Jackson Cirque de soleli

Woke up 7.30 and then Tiago left 8.30ish as had to go to work but I laid in bed for as couldn't be bothered getting up. Eventually got up 9.30 had breakfast and then thought best go for run but probably should of gone before breakfast. So went for run at 10.30 which wasn't my best run had to stop after 0.63 miles but ended up doing 1.06 miles. I think I definitely shouldn't have had breakfast 1st and think that's why I had to stop never mind is know for next time. Come back and read book on balcony for abit but then unfortunately I had to go to work but was too nice. Once at work seemed busy at first but luckily got extra staff we also had in-service on posaconazale a anti-fungal solution. Their had kindly bought food in which was nice and always makes more peopke to attend the in-service. Ward ended up been busy til 5ish but then settled down but I did do the S8/4 drug round. At least when we finished our patient who looked very unwell at start of shift looked better. Was going to walk home with Reena as lives near me but May gave us both a lift home. Once home thought best phone Mum and Dad to see how Dad's OGD went was ok but needed sedation during in procedure just needs antibiotics. I then had wine then feel asleep woke up 2 but luckily went back to sleep. In morning was going to go to spinning class but felt too tired so didn't end up happening. Got up 9.30 go to Coles to get a few things then laid round pool from 11-2 as nice day and not at work til 3.30. Even though start 3.30 was still team leader as working with 2 NGs and always feel abit lost when start 3.30 so had to find bearings. Was not to bad a shift had plenty of staff had blood products, febrile patient just the usual for our ward. Finished few minutes late Michelle gave me lift home, once home met Vanessa's husband seems nice then bed but not tired so read chapter of book. In morning woke up to alarm had cup of tea but didn't really want to get up. Walked through kokoda track to work as not sure if shopping centre walk way open this early. At work still on B side was 6 staff so even though May in charge ended up going on A side as 2 of us finishing early so 3 staff each side, I did S8 round. Was first time I did blood taking on my own and so much easier to do on my own then have someone watching us. Had nice shift but had clinical review as patient had high heart rate and still managed to finish at 1 definitely like this shift. Come home do washing, shower and wait for Tiago to cone round arrived 3ish then go for late lunch at Outback in Strathfield. Outback Steakhouse is an Australian restaurant with a casual atsmosphere suggestive of the Australian Outback. Where met Tiagos brother Diego and his wife Gabrielle who just arrived back holiday in Thailand. Their both seemed nice and Gabrielle is also a nurse and his brother used to work at hospital now training to be accountant. We all shared starter then I decided against the ribs and had the Alice springs chicken which was good but couldn't manage it all. Got home 5.30 Tiago came in discussed about taking me away Sunday night to Hunter Valley so had quick look at hotels but couldn't decide. Then he kindly gave me lift to Olympic park as off to see Michael Jackson cirque de soleli tonight with Hisako. Got there just after 7 and Hisako already there getting McDonald's otherwise Tiago would of stayed with me til she arrived. It was showing at the allophones arenas so alot bigger stage than last time. Once in went to find our seats which was upstairs but couldn't get to them had been given better seats. Wasn't really sure what to expect from this one as is not like your average cirque de soleli no amazing stunts. I felt like this one was more of a tribute to Michael Jackson even had bubbles the chimp bust a few moves. But there was still several classic cirque jaw dropping moves like the astounding high rise pole dancer. I did enjoy it as more music you knew but was more dancing than last one so think preferred other one. Left just after 10 got train to lidcombe change for Strathfield then wait 15 minutes for my train so read book. Got in just after 11 phone mum to tell her met Tiago family and might be taking me away next weekend. Asked if there liked Sharon's pictures said was a lot over 700 got wine and finished chapter whilst looking for places in Hunter Valley.

Last day with Sharon, Ben and Ellie

Last day with Sharon, Ben and Ellie on Thursday 26th September. Woke up 6.30 but didn't actually get moving til 8ish as Tiago not have to be in as early today. It was then to go for breakfast but first do washing, checked post box got my iTab for city to surf which is engraved my name and finished time as a reminder. Ended up going to Coffee Club for breakfast where I had an omelette Ben had a big breakfast surprised it all fit on the plate. It was then to Coles so Sharon could get a few nibbles for Ellie on the plane. Home sort last few things out before their taxi arrive and gave the place a quick hoover which over heated. Before the taxi arrived just before 11.30 Sharon, Ben and Ellie gave me a present for letting them stay a pedicure, as my toes do desperately need doing. I decided not to go with them to airport as thought be easier to stay buy here and also new flatmate moving in today. Had hugs before their left even Ellie gave me one and all waved goodbye and never gets any easier saying bye obvisiously had a few tears. Since was a nice day decided to go lay round the pool for a few hours whilst wait for Vanessa. She was supposed to arrive 1ish but took longer than she expected to get from Dee Why so got here 2.15ish. Parked her car in car spot and I helped her to fetch done off her stuff up to room as had 3 bits of luggage. We then went to rental agent to hand in bond change and get new rental agreement. It was then to Coles but 1st stop NAB for Vanessa left her in Coles as all I needed was fruit and washing powder. Once back since was still warm so thought might aswell go back round pool for another hour  but pool was still cold go in 5.30. Unfortunately was nothing on TV so ended up watching episode of 'Homelands' series 2 then Vanessa got back. Realised once Vanessa back and offered me chicken and veg pie hadn't had lunch so had one. Tiago then came round 8ish and thought we best out to give Vanessa some space went to restaurant in Rhodes 'Ninety' a moden Mediterranean cuisine. I ended up having lasagne as not had for ages but only ate half so Tiago finished for me and had bottle of wine. Got back 9.30 speak with Vanessa for abit then go to bed just glad Tiago came round tonight to cheer me up after Sharon, Ben and Ellie left.

Bondi and shopping

Wednesday 25th September didn't sleep the best woke up 5.30 put washing on then Sharon bought Ellie into my room 6ish, but she wouldn't settle so Ben got up. Breakfast then catch train just after 9.30 and Ellie wearing sunglasses for a change got train to Bondi Junction and had to wait abit for bus to Bondi beach. When got to Bondi at 11ish Ellie asleep so went to San Churro is Australia's favourite chocolate cafe, serving the best soainish chocolate in town. It was abit warm for hot chocolate so had smoothie and we shared churro's which Sharon wasn't keen on but is a spainish donut their signature dish. Got to beach 11.30/12 was very busy but was 30 degrees also Ellie wake by this point. Me and Sharon thought would try Ellie in the water again but still wouldn't go in, cried and clung to Sharon. Ellie was happy playing with sand, rice crispies and throwing her small rugby ball but seemed to be getting hot so half put her swimsuit on. At this point Ben seemed to be getting abit restless so went and got a drink, ended up leaving beach at 1.30ish. It was then tine for food was going to go to Hurricanes grill but was busy so decided against it. Instead we went to Nikos Greek restaurant located in the heart of Bondi where I had Greek chicken wrap very nice. But I think Greek cuisine is definitely one of my top three 3 cuisines, also at this point Ellie tired but was fighting it so ate our chips. Then got bus back to a Bondi Junction had to wait few minutes for train to Town Hall got there 3ish. Once here found out trains not running to Epping our train line so Ben and Ellie got train to Strathfield. Then it was mine and Sharon's chance to go shopping 1st stop ripcurl saw nice top for Ben for Xmas but unfortunately not his size. Look in nepresso as Sharon thinking of getting more capsules but was expensive than UK. It was then to do proper shopping went to Esprit where had sale on I got top and some beige capri pants as fed up wearing jeans, Sharon got stripy top. We then went to gap but was nothing we wanted and in middle of Westfield had nepresso counter where got free coffee and picture taken to be entried into draw. I then showed Sharon 'Peter Alexander' Australia's leading sleepwear had new collection of mr men looked cool. It was then to try and find cotton on kids for clothes for Ellie but couldn't find, looked in Country Road nothing like. Had look in Ugg as Lou wanted Sharon to get her some but was more expensive than we saw online. Go to Haigh's chocolate an Australian company get chocolate fruit and nuts very good, had random snail outside QVB building so had picture taken. It was then to get train back got back to Rhodes at 6.15 first to shopping centre to get cash for take away later. Was home quick tidy then speak home spoke for 40 minutes and told Sharon not picking her up as dad at hospital. Also Vanessa transferred bond which is a good start for us to be living together which pleased mum and dad. Ellie went to bed 7.30 then Tiago came round 8ish as thought be nice for Sharon to meet him before goes home. We had chat for abit then we decided best get food so got Thai take-away. Think Sharon and Ben liked him and not sure what time we actually went to bed.

In charge at work and find new flatmate, yippee

In morning get up 9.30 and then had Vanessa potential flatmate come view at 10.45 was supposed to be 10.30 but got lost. She seems nice and would be happy to share with her whilst having viewing Tiago had gone to Rhodes to give us space. Met Tiago after viewing and went for so ething to eat at Lily's which was more like bunch than breakfast but still had eggs and bacon. Then walk along river front afterwards and bumped into Vanessa on way back who off to food court so introduced her to Tiago. She has more places to view this afternoon but will let me know tomorrow as Ziad who was going to take room can't afford bond, which is no good. Tiago ended up driving me to work which was nice but took us wrong way at first but still got there with plenty of time. Was my first day in charge shift luckily it was a Saturday seemed to go alright nothing eventful happened. Finished at 10.15 then walk home then speak to mum and dad on Skype which was only about 20minutes. Tiago then came round but couldn't find him at first as had gone to shopping centre as knew I was speaking home, very sweet.. Watched TV had some wine and bed 12ish woke up 9 but went back to sleep til 10.30. Once up Tiago wanted to go for breakfast but unfortunately couldn't go as meeting Ann at 11.30. But it was alright as he was going quad biking today to Gorsforth for farewell do. So I met Ann was busy shopping then went to Coffe Club had salmon and avocado very nice to catch up. Also found out Vanessa happy to move in with which is good as really didn't want to move again. Home and then to to work which was a shame as was a nice sunny would much prefer to lay round pool. Also in charge again today so went for afternoon tea break early so morning staff could go early and Michelle made banana cake, yummy.. Was slightly busier than yesterday and I mainly helped B side more as felt needed it and did the S8/4 round. When left was raining lightly but Lam kindly gave me a lift home and feel asleep on sofa and didn't sleep the best woke up before alarm. Still got to work early on B side which quite busy did blood taking and line change with educator. The blood taking was ok but for some reason when do line change always confuses me will do more blood taking tomorrow. Didn't go for morning break til 11.30 so didn't end up having lunch as no point going. Had 3 discharges and I ended up handing over as team leader busy we got everything done but was few minutes later finishing. Once home Sharon and Ellie here but Ben taken back car as thought would be easier him going on own. Once home me and Sharon went to Rhodes as she wanted to look at jeans but none that she liked and get something for tea from Coles. Ellie bed just after 7 and we ate pasta, sauce and garlic bread and pudding chocolate eclair which me and Sharon shared. Watch TV then trust me to fall asleep on the sofa went to bed just after 10. Didn't sleep the best woke up to alarm but couldn't be bothered getting up so played on iPad for abit. But I still managed to get to work early and had time for cup of tea. Unfortunately team leader had NG and EN with me, our side ended up doing the S8/4 drug round as A side did yesterday. Then do washes and wait for educator to do more blood taking 1st one went alot better then did 2nd one and got signed, yeh. So didn't end up going for break til just after11 come back do meds at 12 then do S8/4 round again. Had appraisal with NUM which went well I just need to show more initiative to complete the ward competencies with regard to CVADs. So I have got til end of October to achieve line change but I expected them to say show more initiative but I do feel like I have been forgotten as NG get priority. I handed over and for a change I actually got my lunch even if I didn't go til 2.30 and even finished on time. Lam kindly gave me a lift home which probably took about the same time if I had walked. Once back the others already back had been to wildlife centre today chilled for abit then went to Coles to get a few things like fruit etc. By the time back Sharon and Ben got ready to go out as off to the Opera House tonight to see Romeo and Juliet. So just me and Ellie tonight, she got a little upset when their left but soon stopped. Ended up speaking to mum and dad for 10 minutes not sure Ellie knew what was going on but knew who it was. I then follishly decided to have my tea sat at the coffee table so Ellie had to help me. Then speak to Debbie on Skype and must of spoke for nearly 2 hours had a good catch up. Think fell asleep on sofa eventually go to bed after midnight once Sharon and Ben back. 

Study day and Tiago back

Wednesday 18th September woke up 6.30 as unfortunately back to work today but got 3 study days before proper work. Not sure why I was up so early since Ellie not in my room any more but Shaton and Ben also up with Ellie. Left about 7.30 and got to hospital at 7.50 to find out course not starting at 8am but actually 8.30. Was surprised but was 4 of us from our ward course was ABC of Palliative Care Nursing was very interesting. The course focuses on the introduction of key concepts of Palliative Care Nursing incorporating physical, psychological and spiritual for patients and carers when approaching end of life care. We even got lunch provided by drug reps which was a added bonus was just wraps, sandwiches and fruit platter. Then after lunch watched dying to live video which was very upsetting and had discussion about it. Realised that person I was sat next to used to work with Debbie said was missing her. Got finished early at 4pm and then straight to Rhodes had sale on in cotton kids and so e nice clothes but not sure what to get. So went to post office to post Debbie's parcel off letters and some bits left and to Coles to get bananas. It was then back to cotton on kids to get Ellie top only had in size 3 and unfortunately the star jumper had loose thread. Got back sane time as Sharon, Ben and Ellie who had a fun time at Featherdale wildlife park and Cronulla beach. Unfortunately Sharon and Ben suppose to be off to Ooera house tonight to see Romeo and Juliet but cancelled due to mechanical failure of revolving stage so have to rearrange. So decided that since Ellie in her swimsuit would go to pool but first to blow up inflatable ring but took abit as Ellie trying to help. Then I got changed but thought would be cold so put on swimsuit, board shorts and my rash vest. I got in the pool first and it was very cold got Ellie in ring and into pool as soon as feet touched water started crying must of been too cold for her so didn't stay long. Once back Sharon and Ben went to Rhodes to get present for Bens nephew as go to Canberra tomorrow. Ellie wasn't interested in her tea had chilli and rice she normally likes and went to bed 8ish. Since Sharon and Ben not out tonight decided would have Thai take away which was very nice. Thursday woke up 7ish saw Sharon, Ben and Ellie before I left who off away to Canberra now til Thursday but obvisiously didn't leave at this time. Course started at 8.30 today and was interesting again focused on pain management  and troublesome symptom management. Had lunch provided and was alot better than yesterday had sushi, pasta, kebabs and sandwiches and was a smaller company. Then after looked at specific management of symptoms and meditation session which was doubtful but felt very relaxed after and didn't fall asleep. Finished at 4ish and straight to Rhodes and had the top I liked at Jeans West half price so had to get then get Melbourne brochure for mum and dad. Then go for a run as thought should try to get back into it did 2.01 miles felt good and legs didn't ache. Home chill for abit then phoned mum and Nanna for a chat and wait for Tiago to come round as got back from Brazil yesterday. He arrived just after 8ish and go straight to sushi train at Rhodes was ok but not as much choice as one in the city. Once home Tiago had bought sone sparkling wine which was nice and not sure where time went to as bed after 12. Woke up ok this morning but didn't have time for breakfast but left together as he had to go catch train as car not sorted yet. When got to work got caroot and orange juice from juice bar and had banana which was my breakfast, very good. Last day of course and was good again did more on end of life, bereavement and drug conversions. Unfortunately the food not as good as yesterday and was a bigger company so thought would be better. When finish go straight to Coles to get a few things and was sunny when left this morning not looked like it could rain. Tiago came round 8ish and drove this time as managed to get car sorted had take-away pizza and he bought more wine. 

Hunter valley by car

Last day with Sharon and Ben before back at work and Ellie woke up at 6.30 tried to get her back to sleep for 30 minutes with no success. By time Sharon and Ben got up after 8ish Ellie had bottle and me breakfast. Got moving just after 9.30 as didn't want to waste day since we had car hire decided to hunter valley as was miserable day. On way there kept raining on and off and I sat in front to hopefully help better with directions. Trust Sharon and Ellie to fall asleep on way there but somehow I managed to stay awake which is a novelty for me. Ended up taking longer than Ben expected as took about 2 hours. Hunter valley attracts food and wine lovers from all over the world as has many wineries. Decided to do the Pokolbin trail which is considered the hub of hunter valley region with largest collection of wineries. First stop was to the Tempus two complex and as soon as we got out off the car trust it to start raining, but we did see 4 kangaroos jumping between the vines. Went to smelly cheese first where had chilli feta and Brie which was very creamy unfortunately the cheese is not made here. It was then toilet stop and then to Meera Park but didn't taste any as had to pay taste and plenty to choose from which were free. So next to Tempus two which has a wide range of wines that look as good as they taste. Luckily Ben decided that me and Sharon could sample the wine and he would drive so tried a variety I bought sparkling rose and Sharon got shiraz mourvèdre 2011. Then to McGuigan wines which is supposedly a must visit destination with a range of cellar door only exclusive labels. Was amazed actually found a red wine I like  the black label red as was too harsh, Ben bought 2 bottles. Next door is Hunter Valley cheese had some nice cheese and dips to try the vintage cheese was good but $21 was cheapest, not worth that much. It was then time for food at the cafe had a lovely salmon, cream cheese and capers baguette which was recommended. Had the the small winemakers centre attached but decided against was also $5 to try. Next to Linderman's one of the oldest and most respected wineries in a hunter Valley. Can only try ones which can be bought in Australia had 1 white and 2 red but nine stood out to me so didn't buy any. It was then find the Hunter Valley chocolate factory which we found but was expecting more to try only had small taster of dark, milk and white. Petersons wineries is next door which specialises in sparkling wine had 1 white, 2 rose, I red and cider my favourite was the blush and strange having sparkling red. Then it was time to head back I sat in back of car and had a little nap with Ellie got back 5ish. Chilled for abit then 6.30 me and Sharon went to Coles to get things for tea I made nachos luckily chilli didn't seem as spicy as night before with our black label wine. Ellie wasn't really tired so didn't end up going to bed til 9ish and wasn't much on TV but found body of proof to watch bed 11.30.

Sydney aquamarine and car hire

Monday 16th September didn't sleep the best woke up a few times then woke up 6.45 to see Ellie stood up in cot. Thought would get her in bed with me but unfortunately she wouldn't go back to sleep so got up after 7. Sharon and Ben got up 7.30 we didn't have breakfast so was out off door before 9 and was in city by 9.40. As soon as arrive in city straight to pancake on the rocks in darling harbour for breakfast which everyone enjoyed. Was a miserable day so good job we decided to go to Sydney aquarium today and got there 10.30. Think Ellie enjoyed especially the Great Barrier Reef exhibit and walking through the amazing underwater tunnels. But unfortunately was not really that interested in seeing her first dugong was more interested in the sand pit. Is lots of animals to see and just nice to experience then hanging out swimming. Ellie also seemed to enjoy the touch pool but think by end was getting tired and didn't end up leaving til 1ish. But trust Ellie not to want to go to sleep at first but got her in pushchair and ended up putting blanket so couldn't see so went to sleep. So whilst sleep decided we would go to Lindt cafe and shared a sharing plate but unfortunately no waffles as machine not working but was still good. Whilst sat down Sharon phoned car hire company and can collect today so decided not to go to wildlife centre instead got train back to go collect car. But had to go home first and got back 2.40 collected everything then out of door. Ended up changing train at Stathfield to Westmead was expecting car to be close to train station. But unfortunately had to walk 15 minutes but at least one good thing had stopped raining got to budget car hire at 4.30. Obvisiously we ended up with an automatic put us all on car hire but think Ben will be doing most of the driving. Had a strange car seat had to fasten it in the boot and was in the middle of the back seat very bizarre. Trust us to hit rush hour traffic and I sat in front as Sharon thought I would have more of idea where we were going. But somehow I had put the wrong address in at first but luckily realised before we got too far and got hone 6ish. Was going to go to spinning class but unfortunately I missed it as was at 5.30 so instead I made tea chilli. However I made it as I usually go and unfortunately it was abit too spicy but was still nice. Unfortunately nothing on TV again so ended up watching 'Notebook' and fall asleep on sofa got to bed 10.30.
