Surf camp weekend

On Friday when woke at 2ish could hear dog barking and just assumed was dog next door then looked over stairs and saw a dog. Luckily I knew who's dog it was, it was Ji-Sun's dog 'Rocky' a golden Labrador and he came up to see me when I looked over. Next minute I went to the toilet and I thought I had shut the door but obviously not as next thing I knew I had a nose pecking through. When Bianca got home told me that looking after Ji-Sun's dog 'Rocky' for her overnight and is a lovely dog. Once Debbie home time to get organised for surf camp weekend luckily all packed but still had to adjust a little using my new Ripcurl bag and can fits lots in. Got train to Central station then time to find wake up hostel but it wasn't where I thought it was but found it in plenty of time. As had to be there for 6pm and we arrived before Sarah & Dave luckily we didn't have to wait for big bus and got to go on mini bus was only 13 of us with driver 'Mitch' left just after 6pm. On the way we stopped half way at Paul's burgers on Princess Highway for Paul's Famous Hamburgers. Which has provided Sydney-siders with 50 years of tasty burgers and has become labeled as the iconic Aussie hamburger. It was very good I had a cheese which was very tasty but messy definitely needed to sit down to eat it, left at 8pm. Took another hour down the Princess Highway before we reached 7 mile beach, Gerroa where surf camp is for the weekend. Seven mile beach is one of the longest beaches on the south coast at 12.5km (7.8miles) in length. We were the first bus to arrive just after 9pm and had to wait for other buses was about half an hour but whilst waiting got biscuits and juice. It was a big double decker bus that arrived which had our luggage on as wouldn't fit on our mini bus. Then time for orientation and the plans for weekend as 2 surf groups for weekend as nearly a 100 of us the talk was very entertaining and lots of different cultures. It was then time to get allocated our rooms and all four of us got to stay together with a double bed for Sarah and Dave with 3 bunk beds. We ended up sharing with 3 others girls who work for Ripcurl Cathy, Sammy and Loz and I ended up with top bunk. We got to bed 11ish and was abit of noise at first people socialising outside as our room near main near, but eventually nodded off.
Saturday 23rd march and first day at surf camp work up at 7ish must of been because of all the excitement for surfing. But unfortunately were 2nd group so our lesson not til 10.30 so me and Debbie went for a wander round the resort found a jumping pillow but deflated, so couldn't play. Then got back and chilled for abit on the hammock outside our room and read my kindle whilst waiting for breakfast. For breakfast was just simple food toast and cereal with some fruit but ran out of bananas so had to have apple instead and I do like a banana in the morning.. It was then time to put sunscreen on and get fitted for our wetsuits decided not to wear board shorts and rash vest under as was quite warm. We then had to walk to the beach which seemed to take abit but was probably only 10-15 minutes. Once on beach which looked lovely, so long could see for miles before we got put in our groups we all went for run and did stretches. It was then spilt into our groups we had Jake and Sammy as our instructors who seemed very entertaining was 9 in our group. Seven mile beach is good for surfing as there is many breaks along the beach which is very good for learners. After having abit of teaching on the beach it was then time to go get in the water and luckily I had a blue board, my favourite colour. Just hoping I will be able to stand up on board and I did manage but was only up for a short time then fell straight off into water. But was certainly lots of fun trying and didn't feel like we were surfing for 2 hours it flew by and hopefully might stand up on board for longer. After lesson was time to walk back to camp and passed other group on way to theirs when got back was lunch just sandwiches. Then we got to chill for abit was going to lie round pool but thought probably not enough time so just read. Our next surf lesson was at 15.30 this time played a game off soccer before surfing which couldn't be bothered it that probably how got hit in face by ball. Had different board a green one, would off preferred blue but none left, the waves were supposedly better but didn't seem it. We also had to decide on our team name somehow ending up been called 'One Eyed Willie Cupcakes' as was a mixture of different ideas. It didn't seem that waves were better as I didn't manage to stand up once as was hard work to even get on board and hit in back by someone surfing who wasn't paying attention. After lesson we had to carry our boards up the beach to the storage unit down a little pathway think hit board a few tines on trees. Was abit disappointed but is always tomorrow and might not off helped as probably slightly tired from the morning session. When got back was so nice to have a hot shower then fancied something to drink but shop closed so went for walk. But other shop also closed but managed to find drinks at the other caravan park as had vending machines. When got back tea was nearly ready was BBQ which was good and Sarah bought out her iced tea vodka box, definitely have again.. We then got to watch the photo showcase which was video and some off the pictures from today some were very entertaining but none off me stood on board. A few people were off for drinks at the pub up the road but we won't bothered so went for a walk and got to play on the jumping pillow, lots of fun.. When got back most people gone to pub but we stayed played cards and ate chocolate which Dave bought out, staff happy when shared with them. It was then early night for us as didn't want a late since first group in morning.
Sunday and we were first group this morning so up at 7am for breakfast and got woken up twice at 1.30 and 4.30 by the girls coming back in after night out. At breakfast still no bananas again so had to make do with cereal and toast with peanut butter, no coffee as no good. Time to put wetsuits on at 8am, then walk to the beach and had to carry our boards down to the beach. Then it was another game of soccer to warm up but think would of preferred a run but put in abit more effort than last night. The waves were good but for some reason was not as good as yesterday morning only managed to get to knees. I think it must be the boards fault as unfortunately no blue board again for me ended up with a green one. When got back was time to take a few pictures of us in our wetsuits to proof that we have actually been surfing since none so far taken by photographer. Time to chill before lunch so me, Debbie and Sarah went to shop which was open today as wanted a decent coffee got a latte. Lunch at 11.30 today which was better than yesterday had breadcrumb chicken done on BBQ with a roll and salad. It was then time to get organised, shower first then do packing and obviously had bought too much with me hadn't worn everything, we also had to strip our beds. It was then to go play on the jumping pillow again and was 2 little girls who came to join me and was copying me do star jumps etc. Then back to the camp for our board talk off things to know when surfing alone, also got to see pictures and film for weekend. It was then time to leave, was a fun weekend had really great instructors with a lot of energy that are determined to make you get the most out of your time at Surf camp. Learnt heaps about surfing but still need to improve more, had plenty of time in the water, but think might need one to one surf lesson. We got picked up at 3ish by Mitch and got to go back on the mini bus again and stopped for ice-cream after about 10 minutes. Stopped at scoops ice-creamery at Gerringong had hokey pokey was good is vanilla ice cream with limps of honeycomb toffee. When got back to city went to 'Side bar' which is under the wake up hostel for free drinks but Debbie felt tired so went straight home. We were first bus back and was no-one in the bar when went in could have any drink so had glass of wine and bought out chips. Only stayed for one drink left with Sarah and Dave when left the big double decker was just arriving so good timing. When home spoke to Sharon and Ellie at 8.30 on Skype as Ellie's first birthday today but Ellie just wanted to play with the keyboard keys not interested in aunty Jo and connection went a few times. I then spoke to Mum and dad in Skype and the connection was still not the best think must off gone nearly 3 times.

Nights and online shopping

So first night tonight Monday 18th march and first off four nights, told had to change wards again. This time I had to go to 6 North orthopaedic which I don't like at the best times as out of my comfort zone and had 12 patients. I also had a PCA machine which I am not used to and never seen no many bedpans as most patients using overnight. Early on morning had a patient with temperature 38.5 trying to tell him to take blankets but doesn't understand as non English speaking. Only thing was that I finished slightly earlier at 7.15 had arranged to go for run with Debbie but too tired so shower then bed. Woke up at 12 for toilet then back to sleep til 2 once up relaxed for abit, before sorting out what uniform to send back. Then thought might aswell go to Rhodes to post the uniform luckily post office not too busy and got a few groceries whilst there. When got home Jen round visiting Bianca but all I wanted to do was chill for abit before work, which is what I did. Tuesday night someone had to move wards again but luckily not my turn this time as I have moved the last two shifts. Only open to 24 patients and we weren't full I had 7 patients and were nice only thing I had was someone had low blood sugar so gave honey and soon came up. We also had a MET call but was not my patient and only did MET call as patient had a reaction to a IV infusion, but ended up having abit later at slower rate and after having anti-histamines.
When got home supposed to go for a run but my throat felt dry and sore so thought not best idea to go for a run. It took abit for me to get to sleep as kept coughing and made sure had a good drink before going to bed as thought throat might be dry due to dehydration. I then woke up and I thought I had been asleep for ages but turned out it was only 9am so not even asleep a hour. But luckily got back to sleep til 12 when woke up for toilet and then back to sleep til 2 when I eventually got up. Chilled for most of day as supposed to be meeting Dan, (the lad I met at establishment) later on at Olympic park for catch up as down from Canberra for Bruce Springsteen concert. Whilst waiting to find out what time he would arrive my other board shorts arrived and Bianca arrived home early as not feeling well, so work sent her home. Didn't end up meeting Dan as he was late leaving Canberra and got struck in traffic so wouldn't be another time before his concert. Dan couldn't apologise enough about not been able to meet but not worth it for a hour and rushing, will just meet next time he is in Sydney. Instead I watched My Kitchen Rules (MKR) with Bianca which was sudden death of two teams and glad that the team went out. Then to work and I had the same patients plus an extra one so had 8 patients and was ok. But was so tired at about 3ish and actually slept on break but didn't want to get up, but obvisiously I did as work to do. One of the staff was very as had patient who had high blood pressure whilst having a blood transfusion then low after, so helped the staff in morning.
When got home couldn't get to sleep as still coughing abit but determined to stay in bed as long as possible as surf camp at weekend. I woke up a few times but didn't want to get up as wanted a good sleep, so got up at 4pm. When got up Jen and Bianca downstairs watching DVD as Bianca still not feeling 100% so phoned in sick for her night shift tonight. Even though my throat still felt dry and sore thought best still go to work and got throat smoothers which will hopefully help. Also so glad that my final night but open to 30 patients but one person off sick, so at least no-one had to move wards and good job I didn't phone in sick. So had 10 patients each and got an extra staff who just floated who was very helpful did all the observations for me in morning. Before left went to toilet bad idea and somehow I managed to drop my phone down the toilet but at least on a good note toilet was clean. I suppose thats what you get for playing with your phone on the toilet when tired but at least phone seemed ok afterwards. Went to Coles after work to get a few nibbles for our journey later on to surf camp and realised once home phoning not ringing so put in a pan of rice to soak up the moisture.

Make-up and shopping

Monday 18th March woke up 8ish but stayed in bed for abit as couldn't be bothered getting up but eventually got up 9. Then went to Rhodes with Debbie to pst parcel home for Ellie and Sharon's birthday and also collected parcel my Rip Curl board shorts. It was then off to the city to have my make-up done at clairns at 11am and just made it in time but so had my beauty consultant 'Madeline'. When asked how I wanted my make-up I said I wasn't bothered but would prefer a natural look as didn't want to dressy as only 11am. The end result I was happy with had two shades of brown eye shadow and a nice chocolate lipgloss as not really a lipstick fine. Clairns is a leader in european luxury skincare but people forget that their have a make-up line which is very good. I ended up buying the chocolate lipgloss as like Debbie says I normally play it safe with my make-up so will be nice to brighten up for a change. Wasn't sure if had to get two things but did so also got 'fix make-up' a mist to set make-up and revives radiance. I definitely like clairns make-up and maybe when I finish using what am using now I might purchase claims next. It was then to go look in the new Michael Kors shop in Westfield had some lovely bags and clothes. Which wasn't as expensive as I expected, might even buy a dress at some point but probably wait for outlet one first at DFO. Debbie then wanted to go look in the surf shops as wants some board shorts for surf camp ended up getting two. I had seen some board shorts which I liked at Roxy but didn't have in the shop so went to the surf shop at Darling Harbour but still didn't have, so may have to but online. On the way to Harbourside saw the place were mum and dad are going to be staying when they come and looks nice. Is the yellow building in the picture and when i have time I will actually have to go inside at some point, to see what looks like. Then for food and fanncied KFC since didn't have yesterday was nice but didn't like the chips or mash, gravy was strange. Time to head back after that but got train to North Strathfield so could go to DFO before home and was only 15-20 minute walk. We didn't spend long at DFO as we knew what we wanted me nothing but got top from Seafolly and Debbie two bikinis. Then walk back home but not before going via Olympic park as I really wanted a milkshake and nowhere to get one from at DFO so went to McDonalds instead. When got home went for a lay down as thought best have a rest before work think might of nodded of for 20 minutes. Then got up and I made tea for me and Debbie was only ready made pasta and sauce, then off to do my night.

St Patrick's day

Sunday 17th March and St Patrick's Day what to do....Woke up 11 which not bad since didn't get in til 4.40, chilled for abit and then just wanted some fatty food. I really wanted a good fry but didn't have so instead had fried egg sandwich, which did the job and so thirsty. We were on about going to Manly but by the time we had actually got our selfs organised realised wouldn't get there til 3.30 as nobody moving fast this morning. So decided against going to Manly and instead went round the pool for a hour or so was very quiet only one other person. Then we walked to Olympic park as said we would go get ice-cream so went to 'Cold Rock Ice Creamery' which hadn't tried to yet but looked good. At 'Cold Rock' you get to choose your favourite ice cream and mix ins and watch them smash to create a unique flavour!! There is over 3000 flavour combinations, they was just so many to choose for but in end decided on peanut butter ice-cream with twix was good, definitely have to try again.. On way back from Olympic park went via Coles to get a few things and to rent DVD's for tonight as had offer for rent one get one free so got mental and change up. When ordered take-away pizza as good offer on still for 3 pizzas, garlic bread and bottle of come for $25, so might aswell use it. I then spoke home but the connection was awful think we must of lost Internet connection about 5 times and there getting snow again. Then watched final of master-chef professional final and so glad Rhys won as he deserved it. Then to decide what film to watch decided on 'Mental' which is a comedy that puts the fun in dysfunctional. It is a hugely entertaining Australian comedy-drama with terrific comic performances from a fine ensemble cast. Shame we never went to the St Patricks parade and event at Hyde park as look like it was fun, but is always next year...

Night out Beresford and Kings Cross

After been shopping at DFO was time to get ready for going out tonight but not before having our fish finger sandwiches, which were good..It was then time to decide what to wear did a little fashion show for Bianca to decide what to wear. I had a choice of 2 dresses pink or star and my playsuit which not sure even wore yet, decide to wear the playsuit. Obviously whilst getting ready we had to have a glass of wine or cider for Debbie as would be rude not too and music playing with my speakers. We got train to central and then had to walk to the Beresford which not good in heels when going up hill took about 20 minutes. Got to Beresford about 21.30 and others not arriving for about an hour so decided might aswell start with a cocktail. Their was a few sharing cocktails to choose from but we went for the 'Group Hug' which was Zubrovka Bison Grass vodka, apple juice, soothing chamomile, fresh mint and lemon stirred in a carafe and lengthened with lemonade. Must off been good as we ended up having a two off them then we wander for a upstairs was live band but not too sure so came back downstairs. Then others arrived about 22.30 Nat, Lou, Dan Matt and some of their friend so stayed downstairs for another one then went upstairs to have a boogie as band now finished. We had a giggle and even got a drink bought for me by James who wanted my number but think accidentally gave him wrong number. We then all went to king croissant at 1.30 but others had all gone on without us had to wait abit for a taxi. Then met them at O'Malley's pub which was built in 1907 and is superbly situated in the heart of Kings Cross and for over 10 years has been one of Sydney's premier live entertainment venues. O'Malley's bar is a popular meeting place for international and domestic visitors alike who come to experience O'Malley's famous Irish hospitality and sensational Live music. It was our first time in King cross and was good probably as was a few off us out but not sure if O'malley's was best place to go. After Lou and Nat left we went aswell and went to another bar which was more dance music only stayed for a short time. By this time by feet were hurting so was off to McDonalds for our usual chicken and cheese burger. Where we got chatted up by some lads on a stag do who invited us back to their hotel to go in hot tub we declined and went home instead getting in at 4.30.

Work, shopping and pancake on the rocks

Tuesday 12th March woke up 7 then went back to sleep til 8.30. Then was woke up abit I went for a run with Debbie only did a short one 1.04 miles as thought might rain but didn't just little sprinkle. I then went to Coles after breakfast to get a few things which I didn't end up getting on Sunday, when got home made lunch for tomorrow as on early and chilled. Went to wok early as meeting Hisako before work for catch up had coffee and my usual toasted banana bread. At work was on A side was actually nice and Michelle made some blueberry muffins for everyone were very good. Whist on my break their was a MET call so we came out but there had everything under control and not my patient. At about 9 we were told that a patient moving next door to 5 North and closing to 18 patients and when finished had to wait for Debbie but only 10 minutes.
On early Wednesday and did not sleep well last night think must of woke up about 3 times but got to walk with Bianca to work. When got to work on B side thought work going to be awful as to start with only me and someone from emergency department, not the best. But then luckily we got a extra staff and Michelle came to my side so the shift wasn't as bad as I had expected. On break checked my emails and a couple interested in a place who had seen ad on Gumtree, checked with Debbie and happy for couple so sent reply. At work had to keep getting Katrina the educator to do central lines with me and even got to practice doing some, be so good when eventually can do on own. Thought Bianca on a early but then texted me to say doing double so happy as means can just chill at home on my own and even laid outside in sun for abit.
Thursday on another early and didn't sleep well again think woke up maybe only twice last night so slightly better. Mum also texted this morning to let us know sorted out her accommodation now staying in apartment 2 bedroom and 2 bathrooms at Darling Harbour, looks nice. Considering not many staff at work was ok but only open to 18 patients and even finished abit early before Bianca, so I went home first. Also the couple who were interested in our place have now found somewhere else to live but still time to find someone. When done went to DFO with Bianca and her workmate Liu and it only took 20 minutes to walk there. Think since had someone else with us I wasn't so bad at shopping only bought fossil purse, overnight bag from rip curl and present for Ellie as so cute. Bianca ended up buying what she went for as wanted to get her sister's present and found some lovely shoes at Nine West which was good price. After finished shopping we walked to Coles to get something for tea and Bianca made Thai prawns and spaghetti was good.
Friday on another early and slept slightly better think only woke up once for change and walked with Debbie to work. Was only 5 staff at work but only 18 patients nice morning but had fussy relative who must off mean with the Dr nearly 30minutes going through timing of medications for her mum. Then one staff on my side got some bad news so left work early but luckily had an extra staff member who came to my side. After work went to Rhodes as me and Debbie had to collect our new uniforms and do some grocery shopping. Since had so much stuff to carry used a trolley to the entrance off Liberty Grove as can't take trolleys inside. When got home tried on our uniforms and mine fit but didn't like skirt with tunic top but Debbie's too big. It was then time to get ready as off out tonight to Pancake On The Rocks as Ann in Sydney for a day. I got train to Wynyard and walked when got their Ann was already stood outside but thought would wait for Michelle and her family to arrive. But we didn't realise when Michelle arrived that May already here so at least we didn't have to queue to get in like you normally do. I decided to have greek crepes for a change as usually have pancakes was good, Michelle and Ann shared pizza and pancake. Got to try some of the pizza had sour cream & guacamole on and some of May' s ribs which were very nice. After food we walked past the bridge to Circular Quay train where me, may and Ann got train and was on a go slow then changed at town hall got home just before 10.
Saturday and on another early didn't want to get up for work and we were all at work for a change. This morning when got to work someone had to move to 6 East so I volunteered to move as knew Debbie on this morning. But did not put us to work together not that their knew we were flatmates was a nice shift was so cute had twins and husband & wife. On break went downstairs to my ward as promised would help someone order uniform, ended up helping two so measured and showed them how to access online. I also had a text from someone asking if room still available and replied 'Yes' but got no reply back. So I didn't actually mind working on 6 east but think would off been more fun if me and Debbie worked together also finished at 3. Bianca not finished so me and Debbie went on without het as off to DFO after work. I was very good I didn't buy anything ended up taking Ellie's present back which bought Thursday as Sharon says will be too small. The original plan was to change for a bigger size but unfortunately did not have one, will just have to keep checking and can get later. Debbie had wanted to go to DFO to get board shorts and new outfit for tonight which she got just black skirts, but saw nice dress at esprit but still full price.

Botanical Gardens

My last day off, of 4 days and has flown by Debbie off today aswell so decided to go to Botanical Gardens since never went yesterday. Monday 11th March got up 9ish to go for run couldn't get motivated at first but eventually went for run at 10ish and did 2.69 miles round the lake where we went yesterday. Then me and Debbie headed into the city to go have a nice wander round the Royal Botanical Gardens. The Botanic Gardens is situated overlooking Farm Cove, and is east of the Sydney Opera House, Circular Quay and Macquarie Street. The gardens is 30 hectares in area, and is bordered by: the Cahill Expressway to the south and west, Art Gallery road to the east, and Sydney Harbour to the north. The Botanical Gardens are beautiful with so many different areas to see, so big couldn't get round in one day. The pond area was lovely and didn't even realise that their was a shop and cafe in the gardens. Was great to get some fresh air away from the noisy city and would be nice to enjoy with a picnic, maybe next time. It was then to meet Nat at Opera House at 2ish and straight to food but was nothing we fancied round Circular Quay so ended up at Bar 100 off George St at the Rocks. Bar 100 is a heritage listed Mariners Church (est.1856)it is now a stylish multi-level venue that offers various event spaces, bar and dining options. Set over four levels, this beautifully designed venue is the perfect mix of old and new, food was ok just had a light bite but had a nice cocktail menu, will definitely have to try sometime. Then it was back to Botanical Gardens where we just chilled on the grass for abit since a nice day. It was then time to head back home as needed to be back home for 6.30 as Bianca cooking tea tonight. The train was so busy but luckily we made it back in time for tea and Jen here for tea aswell, Bianca did pasta with salmon, chives and cream very nice but Debbie didn't want any. I also had 2 parcels one was my old work shoes from mum and the other my new heart fob watch. Then just chilled the rest of the night but Nat had mentioned about advertising place on Gumtree so did that as free.

Book Ayers rocks

Sunday 10th march woke up 9ish and went to city with Debbie plan to go to botanical gardens but thought would go price up Ayers Rock whilst in city. So decided to go to ATS (Australian Travel Specialists) at circular quay for a quote but already had a rough idea on price as had brochure. We ended up booking the tour through AAT kings which was 2 day Uluru sunset & BBQ, accommodation and Uluru sunrise for weekend after Easter. Only thing is the tour doesn't include flight so we have to sort them out next but before we do was lunch. Went for lunch at city extra at circular quay I had a vegetable panini which was good but when paid price was different. Went to flight centre near circular quay but unfortunately was shut so decided to walk to one at Westfield. On route to Westfield we were walking past shop and saw a new magnum champagne (see picture) was good but needed more champagne only slight taste. Then we got to Westfield and luckily the flight centre was open so we booked our flights and I had another $50 voucher so got that off, total trip under $1000 each. I then went to the clairns to cancel my make-up appointment for tomorrow as cant be bothered so rearranged for week after. On way home stopped at Coles on route to get some fruit and when back went for walk with Debbie round bicentennial park. We went a different route round the park this time round lake Belvedere and now know how to get to DFO. When home ordered take away pizza and watched TV.

Future music

So off to my first festival in Sydney today should be good, here I come Future Music..at Randwick Racecourse. Woke up 7.30 and stayed in bed for abit, then eventually decided to service at about 8.30. As off for breakfast this morning with Bianca and Debbie at coffee club as thought best have a good meal to start the day off with. Decided to have my usual French toast as not had it for a while but unfortunately it was not as good as normal. We arranged to all meet at 1.30 at future music wasn't really sure what to wear tempted with my shorts and off course my havaianas. In the end that is what I choose to wear with a camisole vest as wanted to be comfy and take cardigan in case gets cold. I got the train to central and it seemed to be on a go slow when got their walked round corner and saw the long queue for the bus. But on a good note their was lots of buses coming and the queue moved quickly only took 15 minutes to get to front and bus was free. We arranged to meet at the entrance then realised that we were at different ones, I got in quite easily. But by the time I got Lou not in yet but the boys were already in but no idea where so decided to wait for Lou. As soon as I walked at 2ish, I could see Ellie Goulding playing very good listened for abit then went to see Rita Ora at other stage. By the time Lou got in was about 3 as she got behind a fight when walking in met her at the V tent. Lou hadn't heard from Dan but had texted him so decided to just go get a drink was a long queue so thought might aswell get two. We then wandered over to the Mazda stage as Lou remembered Dan wanted to see 'Fun' and bumped into Dan walking over to get drinks. He took us over to meet Matt and we stayed at the Mazda stage to watch a few acts and was very busy. We also found that when the lads came in Dan used the disabled card so got in a lot quicker, how funny when not disabled just injured..It was then time to go for more drinks and go to the toilet which were disgusting when you going was a small puddle. Matt offered to give me a piggy back over but managed to step over avoiding the puddle, but next I accepted as puddle bigger. We then went to the future music stage but not many acts wanted to see at 5ish so just sat down for abit and Dan had a little nap. At 6.15 we went to the warrior dance stage as boys wanted to see 'Boys Noize' is the stage name of a Berlin-based DJ. Throughout the day Matt kept finding things as found hat, wrist bands and glasses without lens, see pic of Lou with them on. It was then time for food which was a very long queue Matt went to get pizza both me and Lou not really hungry. Whilst waiting for Matt got to listen to Dizzee Rascal and Dan put me on his shoulders to see where Matt was in queue as taking forever but then wouldn't put me down. After got pizza was back to Mazda stage to go see Stone Roses who Lou really wanted and were fantastic worth the wait. After stone roses was to other stage to see prodigy who were late on but were brilliant considering don't like dance music. Dan and Lou left us to go see Bloc Party but I stayed with Matt to watch more Prodigy then after 'Firestarter' went to see Bloc Party at other stage, were good. But unfortunately we couldn't find the other two tried phoning but no answer so went to watch end of Prodigy. By time finished still hadn't found Dan and Lou so me and Matt went our separate ways at about 11ish and left was hoping to get bus back to central but sure a long queue. The organisers told us to go to bottom of road to get other bus waited a while but no luck so walked with two girls abit further on to other bus stop. But buses kept going past us and then another girl wanted to walk back to central so walked with her took nearly 40minutes. Just made the train with 5 minutes to spare by time got in was 1.30 had quick shower as feet filthy but I suppose that's what you get for wearing havaianas. Also realised had big blood blister on my big toe on my right foot must of happened when I tripped walking back. On hindsight instead of keeping stooping at bus stops I should of just walked straight back as was very tired by time got to bed. Overall the acts were good, was amazing to see the Stone Roses! Bloc party were awesome along with Prodigy, shame missed Psy, as thought might off been entertaining seeing 'Gangnam Style'. Future Music Festival delivered the goods! Would definitely go again! But just a shame was excessive queues, running out off some drinks early and Lou would say badly organised to get in and me out, needed more buses.

Bondi, dolphins and seeing someone from home

Friday 8th march woke up just before 7 then went back to sleep til 8.30, then I thought I best get up and do something. By the time I got myself organised I needn't get the train til just before 11 straight to Bondi junction. When I got to Bondi junction was a long queue for the bus which seemed to take forever so didn't get on 1st one but got on next one and got to Bondi just after 12. Wasn't really sure if warmer another for beach so decided whilst waiting for Lou to arrive would just go sit on the seats overlooking the beach and read my book. I then looked over to my right and I was sure I recognised the person on the seat, so I went to have a look. I couldn't believe it was Clare from back home who I used to work with me on Byland ward, couldn't believe it. She was here on honeymoon and only in Bondi for 2 nights then going to Townsville where her brother lives. What a small world off all places good job I ended up going to Bondi today I stead of Manly. We chatted for abit and I caught up on what been going on a home and also got to see some dolphins swimming. But unfortunately I had missed them jumping but at least I got to see them and got a better few as borrowed their binoculars. Then Lou arrived about 1.30 and we decided to go on the beach for a few hours as was some sun shining. Dan (Nat's brother) and his friend Matt supposed to coming down aswell but Dan ended up not coming but Matt came to see us and was straight in the sea. So at least I have met one off them who's coming to future music with us tomorrow and seems pleasant. We left the beach about 5ish me and Lou were on about how you can't get coconut yoghurt here so will definitely have to have some when home in June. Before we left Lou really wanted a hot chocolate as doesn't drink coffee and tea, prefers dark hot chocolate. Which we managed to find at San Churro and everything looked so nice but only got hot chocolate which was good but not warm enough. When got in girls watching film 'End of Watch' only caught the end of the film and looked good will have to watch properly at some point, maybe plane home..

Work and more running

Back to work on Sunday but at least only working 5 days then get 4 days off all together which must be a first. Up early to speak home the connection went twice in only 5 minutes but then it was fine afterwards. I then went for a run and did 2.01 miles which was good and chilled after before I had to go to work. Work was nice could tell it was a Sunday and had plenty of staff since by myself Mona's offered me a lift home in her husbands van, very good just got dropped off at gym. On Monday woke up 8ish went for a run with Debbie and ran a slightly different route and ran 2.32 miles without stopping so proud as not done that for a while especially that distance. Then went to Rhodes to pay for rest for flights, had a $50 voucher off but for some reason wouldn't let me pay with card probably as so much. Luckily bank not far away so went and got money out never had so much money in one go so ended up paying $2066 for flights plus $125 deposit. When got home booked surf camp for four of us me, Debbie, Sarah and Sarah's friend and got 10% off each of us so was $310 instead of $345. Then I had to go to work as on a late had a staff which did not appear to be as long as normal. Work was busy and I was team leader and felt bad as couldn't do central line things as still not signed off yet. Michelle kindly gave me a lift home, when got home was big spider in lounge so me and Debbie got rid off it with the spray and broom to get it out of door.
Tuesday supposed to get up 8 for a run but couldn't be bothered getting so eventually got up at 9am then went for a run with Debbie. I went a different route round the marshlands again and got slightly lost but eventually found route back but had to stop a few times to look at the signs ended up doing 3.54 miles. Then when we got back Debbie made us breakfast was fried eggs on toast was nice for a change. I then bought some more birthday presents for Sharon and Ellie online and paid the gas which was only $70 each. On a late again at work and was a lot better didn't seem as busy as yesterday which was good. After work on the way home me and Debbie went to Coles as had to go get a few essentials like milk and bananas as cant be bothered going in the morning. Then when got home was a cockroach so had to get rid of it before bed and the spray was no use but we eventually got it out of the door.
Wednesday woke up 7.30 as Sharon had texted asking me what we are doing for Mother's Day as this weekend decided will take her to the James Martin hotel in Malton. I then waited for the other two to get up and then we all went for a run and I did 2.63 miles without stopping. When we got back me and Debbie ordered our new work uniform then did some cleaning as periodic inspection of property tomorrow and updated blog abit. When we got to work went to the staff accommodation first to advertise our room for rent as decided would put on each floor. At work was not too bad and at least still only open to 24 patients instead of the usual 30. On Thursday woke up early this morning as on an early today and not happy as my my last shift and got changed sides A to B side. But was actually not too bad a shift probably better than if stayed on other side and don't think I actually did any writing of notes as had student. But I got to watch the CNE do dressing and IVAB's of central line and our inspection is very pleased with us and can stay as long as we like. When finish went to flight centre to price up Ayers Rock since got new off duty and so expensive over $3000 for both us but kangaroo island better price will have to discuss with Debbie. At night had a lazy night in on my own watching TV, updating blog and had some wine since now off work for 4 days. Also did most running done in a while this week ran 8.48 miles all together.

Miserable weather and Mardi Gras

Saturday 2nd march and day off again woke up 8.30 had a lazy morning chilled around the house and even nodded off on the sofa for abit. I then had another look at flights and emirates flights had gone up by nearly $1000 luckily Ethiad was still a good price and nice times. The flights leave 11th june at 9.50pm via Abu Dhabi and arrive manchester on 12th june at 3.05pm. Then coming back to Sydney leave 1st July at 9.05pm getting back to Sydney on 3rd July at 6.25am, so just under 3weeks at home. So phoned Zaher up at flight centre to see if he could do flights for that price which he could do and put them on hold for me. I then decided I would go to Rhodes shopping centre as rain had stopped to post letter to Nanna and one to RPA for neonatal nursing showing my interest. I thought whilst there I might aswell go pay the deposit for my flights which was only $125 and will pay probably on Monday after checking with mum and dad. Whilst at flight centre I also priced up Ayers Rock and Kangaroo Island as hoping to go after Easter but not got off duty yet, so can't book.. I also did a little bit off shopping there as needed new camera SD card and few groceries, which ended up as 3 shopping bags. When walking back home someone kindly stopped me near the estate agents and gave me a lift home as could see me struggling ver kind as didn't even know them so just shows is still some nice people around. When got back was going to go for run but started raining again so made my chilli first from scratch. Then I went for my run and did 2.52 miles but did have to stop as got a stitch and had to rest at traffic lights. I then sorted out my chilli and certainly made plenty had one for now and even had 4 tubs full so that's my lunch sorted for rest off week.
It was then time to get changed and go see the my first Mardi Gras festival with Debbie which runs from Oxford street to Flinders street. Was not really sure what to wear as looked a miserable day and that it might rain so decided on skirt, tights, boots and gilet with hood in case it does rain. The Sydney Mardi Gras is an annual Lesbian, Gay, bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) pride parade and festival in Sydney, Australia. Attended by hundreds of thousands of people from around Australia and from overseas and something off a spectacle for both straights and gays alike.. It has been thirty-five years since the first parade and the Mardi Gras festival is still the biggest event in the world. We were told to arrive early as the fun and entertainment starts before the parade and to find a good spot. Luckily we did arrive early and got a decent viewpoint right at the front of the railing even before the parade started was a view sights to see some good and others not so.. The parade is always one of the most over the top and elaborate of any parade held throughout the world, and usually filled with political statements also. The actually parade did not start til 7.45pm and luckily the weather held out we had a start slight drizzle but at least no down pour. First to one was the Dyke's on bikes which were very good then the parade started where is is full of fun and happiness. There's singing and dancing, loud music and best of all was thousands of people donning weird and wonderful costumes with exciting floats of a variety of colours and shapes. I think my favourite float was the Bondi lifesavers but it was also nice how all the forces came out for it. It was an amazing event and well worth seeing. Only thing is after the parade decided to walk up to Oxford street bad mistake as very busy so turned round and went back way we came. After the Mardi Gras festival police were accused off brutality against a young man handcuffed who was slammed to the ground who supposed did nothing. Footage later came out that he showed him lashing out at officers and repeatedly kicking them as he was been arrested.

Shopping DFO

Friday 1st march just don't know where this year is going and was miserable weather raining sounds about right. Luckily I had arranged to go shopping with Sarah to DFO as never been in and is all undercover so at least wont get too wet. DFO (Direct Factory Outlets) is the best place for shopping for shoes, clothes, luggage, sunglasses and others as has big brands and big savings of up 70%. So off course I had to go see what it was like as I do like a good bargain and did like Birkenhead point aswell. Got train to Strathfield where before meeting Sarah I went to find a Internet cafe which I ended up walking past to print off letter for RPA and room for rent. By the time got back to station met Sarah their and got bus to DFO which is close to Sydney's Olympic park. DFO Homebush has more than 80 stores with up to 70% off including Polo Ralph Lauren but unfortunately no blue cable cardigan what I wanted like Ellie's. A few surf shops Roxy and billabong etc but couldn't find any board shorts or rash vests which I liked for surf camp. Then went to Peter Alexander, Australia's leading sleepwear designer brand, offering a wide range of sleepwear. Had a very good discount so had to buy some but such a difficult decision which ones ended up getting ones with hearts on. Then on to look at bags was Coach, Oroton which were still expensive so went to fossil where got a bag will be perfect for future music. Obviously was a few shoe shops to look in and Nine West and had the black sandals which I nearly bought and were half price so couldn't resist. I also had a look for new work shoes but were still abit pricey for what there was so will wait til goes home. I also bought a new playsuit which was blue and black patterned from jeans west and a bargain, sarah also got a few things. It was then time to head home and was still raining whilst waiting for bus nearly got soaked by a truck. When got home future music tickets were waiting for me and luckily won't too wet as was still in the letter box. At night supposed to go out with Haidee and her friends to Balmain but plans not finalised by after 7pm. So decided to stay at home with Debbie and got take away and I watched 'dear John' on TV which was ok but I didn't like the ending.

Work 6 days, cinema and breakfasts

Saturday 23rd February woke up 11.30ish and didn't really fancy going to work later but self-inflicted probably didn't need that 3rd bottle of wine. When woke could hear 2 people talking turned out to be Jen and Bianca talking downstairs in the lounge. Luckily work was nice still only open to 24 patients and some patients happy to see me noticed that I haven't been there, which was nice. When told Lou that went to work was I reprised as said she stayed in her Pjs most of the day and Nat said should of phoned in sick, but at least work was ok. Sunday on a early and when had alarm going off pressed snooze a few times as didn't want to get up but eventually did get up. Work was nice lots of staff which was good and then when finished May kindly gave me a lift to Coles as just needed to get a few things for tea. For some reason thought had rice but none so had to pop to local shop then I made chicken and sweet potato curry with coconut rice was good but made too much but will do for work. I then went to city to meet Nat and Lou as off to cinema to see 'Safe Haven' Which is about a young woman whose past secrets threaten her relationship with a widowed father in a small North Carolina town. There's a good twist, the young leads are appealing and anyone who enjoys Sparks' sincere storytelling will enjoy it, proper romantic love story. It's from the same author that did The Notebook, which I really enjoyed but is not quite as good as that but still entertaining. It was also nice to meet with Lou and Nat to reminisce about last night very funny and luckily it's have a bruise on cheek but did feel sore. When got in spoke home but connection went 3 times but hopefully coming to Australia 27th December til 19th January, how exciting!!
Monday got up 9ish was quite hot so decided against going for a run so went for a swim and did 20 lengths then laid in sun for abit. When got back was cooking my sausages for my pasta for lunch and I set the fire alarm off just hope didn't wake Debbie up wouldn't mind but had extractor fan on. Then off to work and thought was going to busy but was actually not too bad which is always good when you expect something and the opposite. On tuesday up 9ish pottered for abit then went for a run which felt very sluggish had to stop a few times only did 2.01miles so not too bad. Work was too bad considering we had a person off sick but got a bank pool staff who was very good and even better could do central lines, which was good since I still can't do them.
On Wednesday up 7ish as meeting Haidee for breakfast at Surreyhills at the O Organic cafe got train to central then walked to Surreyhills which took about 15 minute walk. I had just got there at 8.45 and Haidee pulled up on her scooter couldn't off got better timing if we had tried. It was the first time I had eaten here this morning, lovely place it had a great atmosphere and a nice cafe feel. I had the Eggs with spinach and the eggs were cooked perfectly not too hard or too runny, delicious! Nice to have something different and coffee was good.. It was a good size meal too and the cafe prices weren't expensive considering it was all organic. Thumbs up all round - I will be back and the perfect way to kick off the day.. As the food was good, prepared fresh on the day and healthy at the same, so ticking all boxes! It was also good to catch up with Haidee before she goes to Bali and discussed about doing some runs the colour and night one. Got home about 11ish and chilled for abit before I had to go to work. At work was busy we actually opened to 30 patients and after I came back from my break we had a MET call as patient had low blood pressure but was fine throughout it, all he kept saying was am sorry to be causing you all this hassle, how sweet more worried about us than him.
On Thursday 28th mums birthday but abit early to phone her in the morning and would still be 27th there. Felt like hardly seen the girls this week as Bianca on nights and Debbie finished nights Tuesday morning. So we decided to go for breakfast together at Lily's in Rhodes shopping centre and had my usual poached eggs on toast from their. Then we went for a little shop as Bianca wanted to get some new shoes and bag for when she goes to Brisbane this weekend for Future music. I did a little bit off shopping but only got groceries and printed off some pictures to send to my Nanna. When I got back I got my new shoes from shoes of prey and so happy with them look just how I imagined and in such a posh box. On a late at work and was boys v's girls or that's what it felt like as on my side was me and Mona then other side both boys. Was a busy shift again as still open to 30 and clinical review for low blood pressure and high temperature plus fussy relatives etc. I also had a word with the nursing manager to see if can extend my annual leave which was no problem, so can now get flights sorted. When I got home I phoned mum to wish her a happy birthday and lucky all presents arrived in time and was so happy as booked their flights come 29th December til 19th January..

Palm beach and night out

Friday 22nd and up early as meeting Kat at central station at 10ish as off for a trip out to palm beach today but what to wear decided on my favourite skirt. I just hope the weather holds out as it kept looking like it might rain as was a big black cloud to look up at. But we decided we would go anyway met Kat on chalmers street near central station just after 10. We then made our way out off the city going through Dee Why, Narrabeen, Mona Vale and Avalon which looked to have nice beaches. Dee Why especially looked a nice beach it faces slightly southwest but only thing it had a possible shark attack in December, but I suppose that's a risk with most beaches here. On the way their it kept trying to rain but at least was only a little sprinkle and once got to Palm Beach was ok, what a relieve!! So thought whilst in Australia I had to go see Palm beach since last time I was here I did the neighbours tour in melbourne. First stop was the the boat wharf where the seaplanes go from and is a cafe called 'Boathouse' which offered a stunning location and looked very nice. Then next to main beach which is the place where they film the beach shots for 'Home and Away' it was a beautiful beach with lovely yellow sand. The building they use as the surf club is either being pulled down or fixed but I did see beach buggy with summer bay written but unfortunately couldn't sit in it. The surf club get was right on the beach but couldn't go on beach as waves to big so was shut. Was hoping to catch some of the filming but not luckily enough this times No Alf or Brax in sight, but still felt like a proper tourist. Was told is nice to take the time to do the walk up to the lighthouse as the views from the top are well worth it, but not enough time. After been to the beach we went for a drive in search of the caravan park and Irene's cafe but we couldn't find. But we did drive past a few nice houses very expensive but palm beach does have a super relaxed feel about it with pristine clear water and had a tropical feel to it
On away out of palm beach we stopped at whale beach road for something to eat before heading back to Sydney. Obvisiously since we were by the beach we had to have fish and chips well I had chilli prawns which were very good. On the way back went a different route going through Harbord where saw some waves and Manly, whilst in Manly got to go see where the hospital which is up a big hill. As though be nice to know where the hospital as wouldn't mind working here if I can't get into children's or neonatal nursing. It was then up to Manly North ahead which has nice easy walking tracks and is know for been a place for isolation and observation. It's history is that it used to play host to important military fortifications which helped in Sydney's defence in World War II. It it also good to keep an eye out for native birds and animals whilst admiring the stunning views of the city, harbour and ocean beyond (see picture). When we got there we saw a view people surrounded round the grass edge so went to investigate and saw a Echidnas sometimes known as spiny ant eaters, very cute. Then time to head on further going back over Spit Bridge which is an essential transport link between Sydney northern beaches and the city and had lots of boats to look at. We then got back to the city and was tempted to go look round the city but Kat dropped me off at Central station so just went home.
When got home was time to chill for abit then get ready as supposed to be meeting Lou in city at establishment at 9pm was originally supposed to be 8pm but she finished work late so decided make it later. So give us more time to get ready and to decide what to wear wasn't sure whether to go for green or black dress. Bianca advised that the green looked better so went for that one with my Nine West peep toe heels which not worn yet and Bianca kindly did my hair for me so made it all curly. Felt like a new women as the dress that I was wearing was the one I got from Kookai and as was more tight fitting than what I am used to, but told looked nice. When got to city we both similar me just a few minutes before and straight to Establishment since was 9pm now and aim to go to Ivy later. Establishment bar is known for classic elegance which meets a pitch-perfect party atmosphere on the ground floor. Flanked by lines of magnificent iron columns and a 42-metre-long marble bar centrepiece, the former George Patterson House retains much of its formal glory. A space packed with heritage features that make this historic venue a unique place to enjoy a drink and a true Sydney icon. We decided to start off with a bottle of rosé wine and got chatting to nice man from Manly Luke who was out after work and told me the green dress suited me. When we went back for more wine unfortunately no rose left so had to go on to the white and Luke turned out to be very entertaining. Later on when we went to the toilet we got chatted up by two lads and one wouldn't leave me alone and invited us to a party on Oxford street but declined as having fun here. We ended up finding 3 more blokes from Canberra to talk who were very nice apart from Michael got later not allowed back in as too drunk so went to kings cross. Their was also a Luke in this group who was abit up himself and Dan who was a police officer and the nicest of the three. We ended up having another bottle of wine so 3 bottle between the two of us no remember I later fell over and hit my cheek. At the end of night we went back to the lads hotel as all I wanted to do was sleep but Michael came back. So Dan made sure I got back home in a taxi and got in about 4ish and we never made it to Ivy just stayed at establishment.

Facial, Zoo and Korean BBQ

Thursday 21st up 8ish chilled and watched TV for abit whilst having breakfast then thought best get ready. As at David Jones at 11am for my facial at Clairns where I got to experience their signature facial with revitalising treatment. I had secured the booking with a $50 deposit redeemable when I bought 2 or more skin care products on the day. The facial was nice and relaxing and luckily I didn't fall asleep but was very close only downfall was people come downstairs and making abit of noise. I ended up buying a day and night cream plus serum to go underneath with this I got a free gift and some samples but still spent to much. Afterwards I was offered to have my make-up dine but declined as meeting Debbie and thought not best idea to have after facial so booked in for it in a few weeks. I then met Debbie outside the front of Myer building and we made our way to circular quay to catch ferry to the zoo.
Taronga Zoo is the city zoo of Sydney, Australia and is located on the shores of Sydney Harbour in the suburb of Mosman. It was officially opened on 7th October 1916. The quickest and easiest way to get to Taronga Zoo is by public transport, the Zoo is located 12 minutes from Circular Quay by ferry.. Which is how we were getting there and do a combined ticket/package offer which includes transport fare, park entry and gondola ride, plus outstanding views of Sydney harbour fim ferry. Once their we took the gondola lift to the top to begin our zoo visit and experience the vast amount of animals. Taronga Zoo is a world class facility. In addition to displays of animals native to Australia, there are many others from all over the world. One of the first places we went was the night animals and was sign for bilby so had to take pucture as thats what Ann calls me. The special shows (ie Seals, Snakes, Birds, etc.) are short and highly entertaining, we only got to see the seal show. The seal show was very funny and was 4 seals involved in the show, Lexie and Malie (155kg small male) both australian sealions then Marv and Ronny both New zealand fur seals. You will see natural habitats that make you feel like you are are immersed as a visitor rather than just an observer. It is good that Taronga has tried to place the animals in more natural habitats and the kangaroo's in open area but Tasmanian devils were hiding again. The platypus was very cute but wouldn't stay still long enough to get a good picture but looked like it was having fun, swimming the speed of light in a special tank. I think my favourite animal was the giraffe I just there are lovely animals just look so splendid and unique even more breathtaking with the sydney harbour in background. This time I got to see the penguins but not as good view as I would of liked and saw the sea lion up close as was having a photo shoot. The only downfall was food prices at the zoo which was outrageously expensive (ie $9 for a burger) so may want to fetch your own picnic. I was looking forward to a hot as had one when I was here last but couldn't find any this time so had to make do with a toastie instead.
Got home 5ish and was quick change as off out tonight with work, Michelle picked me up at 5.45 and had to direct but she already had directions but we still managed to get lost but soon found our way. We were first there and got parked very easily in the spacious carpark next to restaurant and also has a train station near by which is how Creg arrived. A group of us from work 9 in total had planned a trip to Se Jong Korean BBQ Buffet in Campsie just for a night out. Although it was a Thursday night we were told this place gets pretty packed luckily we had made a booking in advance. Which was a good thing that we did as was very busy and lot of tables were already taken in the spacious restaurant. We were promptly seated and the hot coal was bought and placed in our table. I was surprised at how large the place was, and especially surprised at the whole range of food available. For $30 per person, you have ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT! We were overwhelmed by the wide selection of marinated meats, seafood, fresh Korean sides and salads (Kim Chi!!!) and even sushi, your water would be replaced whenever it appeared that your bottle had none. Your BBQ tray also was replace regularly so your meat wouldn't taste burnt of the last meat cooking. On our table was Me, Michelle, Greg and Josephine and Josephine did most off our cooking but had to have a try aswell. For dessert there was tubs of ice cream and lots of Watermelon. I would definitely go for Korean BBQ Buffet here again as this place definitely had plenty of variety to choose from just a shame not more desserts. For the price, it is definitely value for money especially if you're in a large group and you're really hungry! It was very good fun and we decided that we should try to go out at least every month when got home I could smell the BBQ on me so had to jump straight in shower.
