Skydive

Saturday 16th February and a early start for us got up at 5.30 and didn't sleep well last woke up 1 and 3ish must off been all the excitement about today. Got train to circular quay and was their early so went to McDonalds first to get coffee and hash browns. Then mini bus arrived about 7.30 and was already a few on the bus it took about an hour to reach the Piction skydive airfield base. On the way there felt like my stomach was doing somersaults must off been all the nervous about doing something new and different. When we arrived the airfield base is a collection of corrugated iron sheds adjacent to a kind of junk yard with rusting cars. We then went into one off the corrugated iron sheds to fill in our paperwork had 3 forms to do one written and 2 online before we could do anything else. Also when we booked originally we opted not to get the DVD/photo option but on the day decided to buy the DVD/ picture at $139 as I do like my memories. The girls both opted to just get the picture option at $99 as wont really bothered about DVD but thought will be nice to look back on and Kat recommended it. We walked out the office toilet first which went the best Debbie mentioned that it was the first time she actually looked down toilet for spiders before sitting on it, but none there. When walked out heard our names been called the next instant, so time to get ready for our jump and didn't feel as nervous now. We didn't have to pay lockers as let us leave things in staff room, as lockers are $5 to store possessions which is ridiculous when paying so much for jump.
Five minutes later I was suited up and getting instructions on what to do when jumping not before finding some trainers to wear as only had ballet shoes. Hadn't really thought about my shoes this morning just put them on but said if none that fit then give elastic band to go round shoes, luckily found some. It was quite strange as their was a board like airport board to say who next for jump and how long and also had name off your instructor. The girls instructors were both there but mine was still up in the air so bianca's instructor lori gave me my instructions and helped me put harness on over jumpsuit. I then had to wait with the other jumper who was waiting for his instructor whilst the girls got to wander over to the plane, it felt like a while i was waiting but was probably only a few minutes. When my instructor arrived Cindi checked had been given my instructions and we walked across to wait for the plane and could casually chat whilst starting recoding. She was very good got you psyched up for doing so any nervous you had now had all disappeared, but the plane looked tiny but only 8 off us in the back off the plane. The flight up was fun, sat on floor at first then got to move on to the seat again Cindi was great, gaves me more information, made sure we were set for the jump. Next thing you know, the door was open and the first person was out then it was my turn was sat on the edge of the plane then Geronimo! It was a absolute ball, loved it! the free fall was amazing but felt had to scream abit as didnt want to hold breath and feel, light headed when down as that happened to Michelle's husband at work. Then it was time to open the parachute and glide down even got chance to stir and went round in a circle. Whilst going down my instructor Cindi was very informative and pointing things out to me but couldn't really see city due to clouds. My jump went perfectly and landing which I was little worried about was smooth and soft, my tandem jumper/ saviour Cindi was great lots of fun. It was quite strange as Cindi used to be a mental health some of the people Bianca works knew her and told her to look out for her and was my instructor. You can certainly see the similarities between mental health nursing and skydiving!, Was Fabulous! A brilliant morning out, well worth the money the jump was probably less than 5 minutes. After finished had to wait for our photos/DVD and needed a drink and chocolate to celebrate doing. I them went to take some pictures of the place and off us with our well deserved certificates.
It was then time to get on the minibus to go back to city and didn't have our photo/DVD but just arrived before we left otherwise would of had to pick up from city. On way back think we were still overwhelmed by what we had done and got back to city at 10.30. Was expecting to be dropped off at circular quay were we got picked but unfortunately got dropped off near central station at the skydive office. It was raining when we got off and we hadn't taken our umbrellas as hadn't really thought about it this morning. By this time we were hungry so walked to Myer food court and I got my crepes at last wanted apple strudel ones but had no e so made do with banana and chocolate was good well worth the wait. Then time to head home not before we stopped at Kookai for Bianca to buy the scarf she has been eyeing up for a while. When got home we chilled for abit and ate some off Debbie's birthday cake was very nice was going to have a nap before going out but never happened. Looked at photos and DVD when home and was very good couldn't believe how many pictures you got.
