Last week off work starting 23rd June but had 23rd June off so arranged to meet Hisako at Bondi Junction to go for Sushi at the place Tiago took me a few weeks ago. Before met though did abit shopping as wanted to find a English teapot to give work as a leaving present. But unfortuantely couldn't find an English one even though found one online off a London red bus but couldn't find anywhere to buy it not even at the British sweet shop. But did end up finding my Peter Alexander English pyjamas in the sale so had to buy even if had to go to two shops to complete outfit. Met Hisako in Westfield and still not got my teapot looked in tea for two and then went to Myer where had a sale. Where I found a Le Creuset red teapot which not British but at least was red which represented England and good make, so bought it. It was then to the sushi place where Tiago took me, the sushi was such as good as last time and all plates were a set price. Good portions, great price, great taste but location is not known to many is a diverse range of dishes I especially liked the wagyu beef nearly had 2 portions. Then on Tuesday was to start last week off work on 5 East and on lots off afternoons this week 4 out of 5 shifts. On Wednesday night one off the girls mentioned about doing afternoon tea for me on Friday since couldn't attend Korean BBQ on Saturday which sounded good. Trust me not to finish on time first 2 afternoon and on Wednesday night after Tiago picked me up and got flat tyre on way home after only 5 minutes. Was so annoying couldn't find the jack to get the wheel so was going to get taxi home then collect tomorrow was in the taxi when he offered to help. So he lent us his jack to change the wheel and good job he helped as the bolts were very tough took both off them to loosen them. Don't think ended up getting home til about midnight but at least we got car home instead off leaving it overnight. On Thursday before work decided would make something for my afternoon tea tomorrow so did "Granny's fridge cake" which is an easy creation and tastes good. At work was a busy shift and had a palliative patient who scratched, punched and tried to hit things at me like the drip stand. Also had to get security involved as had to give him something to calm and I knew if tried to get too close I would probably get hit so security had to hold him. Luckily I didn't get too hurt just ended up getting a few scratches and I was the main nurse there but at least calmed down after gave him something. Unfortuantely Tiago couldn't pick me up tonight as didn't want to risk driving on the spare tyre but luckily someone gave me lift to Strathfield, so got home 11ish. On Friday tried to book Korean BBQ for Saturday but unfortuantely couldn't get into our usual place at Campsie so booked one in Strathfield which someone recommended. At work decided to stay in the staff accommodation tonight since on early tomorrow so easy for me than travelling. Only thing is at work my foot felt sore was the heel on my left foot no idea what caused it but think was plantar fasciitis. Got to go look around the palliative care unit today as thought be good to see before I start on Tuesday and looks nice everything brand new. When got back had our afternoon tea and considering only arranged it 2 days go was plenty off food. Was so much good food and homemade was pakora, dumplings, spring rolls, also my granny's fridge cake went down well. Rest off shift at work was ok, luckily our aggressive patient from yesterday was now been specialed and seemed slightly better. In the staff accommodation was very hot overnight and didn't sleep the best which is normal as wake up every few hours. At work on Saturday 28th June was my last shift on 5 East which it didn't really feel like it as was just another normal busy shift. Everyone seemed to like the leaving gifts I bought them the teapot, Yorkshire tea bags, English biscuits which were hob nobs and dark chocolate digestives. So you could see the them was English not sure how often there will use the teapot but it's the thought that counts and didn't have one on the ward. Managed to finish at 3pm Tiago offered to pick but would have to wait 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Luckily one off the girls offered to gave me a lift to Strathfield since was my last shift which was nice off her. Once home home chill for abit then time to get ready to go out again as meeting some off the girls from work for Korean BBQ in Strathfield. Met at 7pm and never been to this Korean BBQ before but found easily unfortuantely was not many off us since short notice so only me, Michelle, her son Liam and May. Went to Bassim restaurant which was recommended by Reena at work and was told to try the marinated beef which was good. Bassim Restaurant is a unique Korean barbecue restaurant offering diners the opportunity to barbecue their own meats and seafood, or select dishes from our a la carte menus. Was very nice bursting with flavour and would definitely go back again also everyone else seemed to enjoy it. Luckily Tiago offered to collect me but had to wait abit for him so me and May went to get coffee then couldn't find him at first as parked at other side off train station. On Sunday didn't really do much just a lazy day and then on Monday arranged to meet Kat for lunch at Bondi junction but first to doctors. At doctors diagnosed plantar fasciitis to my sore foot which can take up to 18 months to heel also iron deficient so needto eat more iron rich foods. Once at Bondi junction had a little look round first at wanted new bag for work which found wasnt exactly as I wanted but will do til I find what I really want and wasn't expensive. Met Kat about 1ish and ended up going to a nice little organic cafe situated on Oxford street. This wholefoods cafe has an outstanding menu and there are no artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners, preservatives or trans fats in any of the delicious dishes. It's one of the more popular spots at the moment, luckily got a table outside in the sunshine and was the only table left. I had the beef and linseed burger was worth the wait, best part was good food and healthy at the same which is a massive plus. The cafe also extends out into a grocers and natural pharmacy, it's a one stop shop for natural products. On Tuesday 1st July was first day on the brand new Palliative Care Unit at Concord which is a 20 bedded unit. Since first day didn't have many patients only had 4 patients and 3 staff I was the only staff from concord all others from Canterbury apart from NUM and one from RPA. Tiago at so e dinner tonight with work so had to find my own way home and trust the bus to be late met Tiago at Wynyard. Tuesday got a belated birthday present from Debbie which was lots off English, which can't wait to eat and a bracelet. Only had 6 patients on Wednesday and ward a lot calmer than old one but might change once open fully to 20 patients. On Thursday thought had got on wrong bus to work but was sure it had said Wynyard luckily it was the right one but went through North Sydney aswell. Supposed to meet Nat and Lou for dinner tonight but rearranged til Saturday since Tiago off to the snow with his brother and wife unfortunately I can't go as working. Friday on another early shift and had training on PCOC which is Palliative Care Outcomes Collaboration. It aims to improve palliative care patient outcomes through routine clinical outcome measurement, periodic surveys and benchmarking. PCOC is the only national program that uses standardised validated clinical assessment tools to benchmark and measure outcomes in palliative care. So it basically our assessment tool for palliative care and two more staff from Concord who start in a few weeks but then trust us to finish abit later. Just had early night on Friday since both up early on Saturday as Tiago off skiing to Jindabyne and me at work. But felt strange as Tiago actually up before me as left about 4ish as takes about 8 hours to get to the snow and was difficult to get back to sleep. Couldn't believe have never really had to travel before to work on Saturday as normally stay in staff accommodation night before. So trust there to be track work but managed to get train to Strathfield then got taxi from there to work as couldn't see any buses at least got there on time and only $15. Luckily work ok and I was in charge for the first time on new unit which was fine but had a relatives not happy. Managed to finish on time ans was waiting at bus stop when saw staff from 5 east and her partner kindly dropped me off at Strathfield station. On way home called in at UGG store and boots still in sale so couldn't resist had to buy tempted to wear tonight for dinner but didn't go with outfit. Once home chill for abit then go to city later to meet Nat and Lou for dinner at Cyren restaurant at darling harbour at 7.30pm. Trust me to be the last one to arrive food was lovely had kangaroo on sweet potato mash then berry soufflé highly recommend. Was nice to catch up as Lou goes home to England next week for holiday and Nat has family coming so won't see them for a while. Also got another belated birthday was a joint present from them a star Thomas sabo charm for my bracelet and luckily didn't already have. Wasn't a late night as girls couldn't go for drinks as Lou has too much to organise before flying so got home 10pm. When got home found on SBS channel was showing the Tour de France going through Yorkshire dales nice to see but have to watch tomorrow as goes through near where I live. On Sunday did chores in morning then went shopping to Birkenhead point as wanted a black jumper which managed to find and also got presents for niece and godsons for Christmas. When home decided to do some cooking for the week so made chilli with brown rice and nachos for my dinner tonight. Spoke to mum tonight on Skype, dad not there as had gone to watch the Tour de France with Sharon and mums shoulder still sore. Unfortuantely Tiago didn't get home til nearly midnight and I was already in bed at this time as got fed up waiting but did see Tour de France again. Second week off work and feels alot better did 3 lates then 2 earlies since on lates got to finish watching the Breaking bad series and liked the ending better than expected. On Wednesday on another late and Cate the NUM asked to have a word so was thinking hope done nothing wrong. Luckily done nothing wrong just wanted to ask me if I would be acting NUM when she goes on holiday in September and I agreed. As thought will be a good challenge and just shows that I must be doing something right on new unit.
