Randwick races

Saturday 13th April didn't sleep well last might not of helped falling asleep on sofa woke up 5 then went back to sleep til 7. Then did more washing, shower and was supposed to help Bianca move with Debbie but was still sorting out things so just Debbie helped her to move back into staff accommodation. After finishing sorting went to Rhodes as needed dental floss as ran out this morning and then met the girls. As supposed to be having breakfast but I had had already eaten so I just had coffee instead at Lily's. The girls had bought me a parcel slip so was off to post office to collect parcel was my work uniform, go to bank to change address and a few other little jobs. It was then home and time to get ready to go to our first horse races in Sydney for the Australian Derby Day. I decided to wear my pink dress as think I have only worn it once before and Debbie got a new dress whilst in Rhodes earlier. We left our at 11.30 to catch the train to central and then the bus to Randwick Races and got their just after 12.30. Unfortunately the others were not here yet but we made ourselves to our entrance the Corona Beach Casa Infield Paddock which had to catch bus to. The Corona 'Beach Casa' Infield Paddock has a more casual option but still felt had to wear a dress even if I didn't go for the heels was some in jeans. This unique ticketed location positioned in the middle of the course offers a 'Carnival Casual' atmosphere with grass hut bars serving refreshing Corona, and a DJ spinning summer tunes for $25. The event was a sale probably because 'Black Caviar' was here and maybe the last chance to see her last race. When we got to the paddock it was already the 3rd race and abit disappointed did get a list off all races, could only see who was racing on the bookie boards. The paddock was very casual only 3 places to eat and drink, think would of preferred more choice but that's what you get for going cheap and cheerful. It took abit for Nat, Lou and Sarah to arrive so by this time me and Debbie already bet on some races and lost...and had food. Luckily I had taken a blanket so we could sit on the glass as only a few chairs to sit on, I didn't put money on all races but a few. The girls were very amusing and was entertaining to try and watch Nat walk in Sarah's shoes as so high. Was so happy as I won on race 8 'Aristan Star' and as soon as I saw the colours I knew I had to bet on it as had a star top. Obvisiously I bet on 'Black Caviar' and it was great to see 'Black Caviar' win her 25th race out of 25 starts and seemed to do it so easily but had been sure a hype all day about her. By the end of the day the girls had all had abit to drink and got talking to some from Cronulla and Lou was very amusing fell off when having a piggy back. Coming out of the races somehow we ended up losing Nat and Sarah who were going out drinking and made sure Lou got taxi home. Me and Debbie got the bus back to the city and luckily didn't have to wait too long for bus. Then Debbie treated me to tea at pizza hut since she had won $60 at the races whilst I only broke even. On way home stopped at coles onroute and as soon as home had to watch my feet as so dirty have wearing flats on the grass. Overall was a good day for my first races in Sydney but still think I prefer English races as more choice for food, drink and bookies. But I would come again but think I would like to try the more expensive area as from my side couldn't view the horses.
